John Lennon and Paul McCartney on their song writing partnership

Here is an interesting interview with John Lennon and Paul McCartney from 1966 where they talk about their song writing partnership. They are laid back in Paul’s house doing the interview and you get a sense of their personality and chemistry with each other.
It starts off with an interesting question where they are asked if they resent other artists recording their songs, and they both welcome it and find it more interesting when artists different from themselves (like Peggy Lee) do it instead of a group just straight copying their style. It immediately reminded me of MLT, with their interpretation of Beatles covers, uniquely their own style while staying true to the original making it their own. I think John Lennon and Paul McCartney would have been super proud to hear their songs so wonderfully interpreted by Mona and Lisa.
Another interesting point they make is about the synergy they have when they write songs together versus individually. One point that stood out is when they said the songs they did together, would be very different if they wrote them  individually acknowledging really their songs as the Beatles stand out over how it would have been written individually without the input of the other.
It was also humorous to hear Paul’s Sheep Dog, Martha, howling in the background.
