Have a great 4-day weekend everyone.
No wait. You probably don’t celebrate July 4th. Well have a great 3 days
-
Woo-hoo! Canada Day! To celebrate, here are some Canada jokes I came across:
I don’t believe Canada is real. I think it’s all maple leaf.
Beavers are great dam builders and Canada’s national animal. That’s why Canada is the best dam country in the world.
One day Canada will take over the world. Then you’ll all be sorry.
Canada could have had it all: American industry, British culture, and French cuisine. Instead they got French industry, American culture, and British cuisine.
When I successfully invade Canada and they offer me lands in a peace treaty, I’ll take Nunavut.

My favorite Canadian saying…
Oh Cannabis, our home and native brand!
-
Happy Canada Day Jacki from across Canada! Hope you and all the other Canadians here have a marvelous day.
Do you remember these Canadian wildlife Hinterland Who’s Who videos in the 70s on the CBC? I think nothing could be more Canadian than these short video clips.

Happy Canada Day to Jackie, Jung, and the rest of the Canadian MLT Club Members!
Just spent a couple days in Toronto watching the Blue Jays play Boston and Tampa Bay. It is great to return to SkyDome (just can’t call it Rogers Centre) during this return to normalcy.
Since it is Canada Day, the bridges returning to the United States naturally were busy. I am fortunate to have a Nexus card, which allows me to use the Whirlpool Rapids Bridge so the wait wasn’t too long. During that time “The Great Canada Goose Show” was on CBC One Radio…on the same day that Mona and Lisa posted their video about their time with Neve.
Hope that all of you are having a great Canada Day…and thank you for helping make it the wonderful place in which it is.
When Mona and Lisa decide to take their music to another country, Canada would be a great fit! Neve and the “The Great Canada Goose Show” on the same day…a coincidence? Don’t think so!
The MonaLisa Twins “Neve” Tour. Has a nice ring to it!
-
Yes, I too, heard the Great Canada Goose Show on CBC Radio. Too much of a coincidence? Me thinks not. The good, the bad and the ugly. It may be how we’re going to take over the world. One cute gosling at a time.
Ornithologists estimate there are upwards of 80,000 Canada Geese in the U.K. An introduced species? Be careful what you ask for. An invasion of airports, and football (soccer) pitches, not to mention the most sacred of British institutions, the neighbourhood pub. See ” Canada Goose making friends at pub” Vimeo. Mona and Lisa are not the first to succumb to a gosling’s charm!

Thanks Christopher, “The Great Canada Goose Show” sounds interesting, I will look for it.
That does have a nice ring to it, a MonaLisa Twins song featuring little Neve would also be very fitting too in Canada. People are quite fond of Canadian Geese here.
Time to catch some fireworks.

Good replies everyone, yes Jung, I used to enjoy watching those Hinterland TV commercials, Goid jokes Tom, and I too, still call it the Skydome ( my fave Canadian band,Glass Tiger and whom I also know personally, met them back in 1988-89 ish, were the first band to perform at Skydive, I gave it on VHS tape …lol… )
I had a nice/enjoyable Canada Day this year, I went out to a local area neighborhood Canada Day Festivities, where I saw some Indigenous Throat Singing, Traditional Hoop Dancing being performed on main stage plus some other local area entertainers/bands, it was crowded, but nothing like the insanity/chaoticness that downtown would of been m and I wanted to avoided downtown anyways, and prefer going to this local area neighborhood version of Canada Day Festivities instead…it was great to see /be at an outdoor event once again after 2 years of not being able to…I still wore my mask as did others but some didn’t as it’s an option now but some places still require you to wear one. Here are a couple photos of me in my Canuck Pride of gear …

Glass Tiger! The Opening of SkyDome! Wow, I remember that well. Glass Tiger comes out playing “I’m Still Searching” and the opening of the roof even though it was raining. Andrea Martin and Alan Thicke hosted the extravaganza.
So much super and underrated Canadian musical talent during that era: Lawrence Gowan (my favorite, met him and had a graduate school classmate who was a friend of his. Gowan is a great guy); Rush (also my favorite–sat next to Geddy Lee at a Blue Jays game once, he is a baseball fanatic); Luba; Jann Arden (we just saw her in concert a month ago); Honeymoon Suite; Serena Ryder; The Holly Cole Trio; The Spoons; and The Box are just a few of the outstanding talent of my generation.
I am ultra-convinced that whenever MLT decides to go abroad, Canada would be the Market. Canada would “get” them, Canada would appreciate them, and hey, why not continue in the Commonwealth!

Hey Christopher, I couldn’t agree with you more on that! ????????

Wow Jacki, you were all nicely decked out in those Canadian colours! I can feel the Canadian pride. I went to the nearby lake where they always have the Canada Day festivities, but this year it was bigger than usual as it was skipped the previous two years due to covid. Tney had a stage setup with music, a beer garden, and lots and lots of food trucks offering all kinds of wonderful treats. In the evening they had the fireworks and I took my camera with me this time, put it in burst mode, and took over 900 photos of the fireworks! LOL. Don’t worry, I won’t torture the MLT Clubbers with them, I just posted 3.

Jung, I know that Canada Day is long over along with our Independence Day, but this seems to be the perfect thread for one last thought.
Vancouver will probably be quieter than usual this weekend. It is tradition when the Toronto Blue Jays play in Seattle, they have a large contingent of fans from the Vancouver area cheering for them. It is a chance for the West Coast fans to see their Blue Jays…Canada’s Team!
As you know, you have the Blue Jays High-A team, the Vancouver Canadians. Many big league ballplayers have played for the Canadians on their way to “The Show”. From everything that I have read and heard, Nat Bailey Stadium is a great ballpark!
We have the Blue Jays Triple-A team here in Buffalo, so several of our players have played in your neck of the woods. I have season tickets, and just got home from a game.
Next week, Deborah and I will be in Toronto enjoying our favorite Canadian cuisine; namely, Swiss Chalet and Harveys…we are simple folk, lol! In addition, we are going to the new Harry Potter musical, we will get lost in IKEA, and we will go to as many Blue Jays as possible without irritating Deborah too much…she has a big baseball threshold because she became a huge Jays fan when they played in Buffalo!
You, Jacki, and the other MLT Club members from Canada are fortunate to be living in such a great country!
