Kansas City, I have to say, MLT can do this Rhythm and Blues song sweet justice!

Their Cavern performance of this is just so alive and fun.  They get right into it like the Blues is their thang!  Just proves how diverse Mona and Lisa can be, their amazing vocals fit right in there.  They sound incredibly awesome whatever they sing!!! Their diverse musical talent is incomparable.  That’s their magic.  Only the Beatles could match, and that is why the Beatles also did this song which was originally done by Little Richard, and Little Willie Little field.  One More Time is the perfect segue way from Kansas City as the party continues.

The energy, fun, and passion listening to Mona and Lisa sing  and rock out is just so infectious throughout.  Brilliant album!

That song really surprised me, since the only Kansas City song I knew was the one popularized by Wilbert Harrison.  MLT did the Beatles version, which I wasn’t familiar with.  I remember Paul recorded the Wilbert Harrison version for his Once Upon a Long Ago EP in 1987, and I guess I just assumed the Beatles had done the same.

Interestingly, despite the very different sound and lyrics, Wikipedia says that they are technically two versions of the same song.  Leiber and Stoller wrote the Wilbert Harrison version, and Little Richard created the arrangement that the Beatles worked with, but the writing credit still goes to Leiber and Stoller.

Hi David, just heard the Wilbert Harrison version and it is very nice too, a more dialed down intimate version, with it’s own unique character.  Just heard Muddy Waters version too, and like all the different versions.  Never heard this song before actually, and it is a really nice catchy blues song.  Mona and Lisa’s vocals are magic and I just love their version here.

I was  pleasantly surprised  by this song  choice,  I grew up with hearing it, not by Beatles but probably from Muddy  …. I always liked this song,  was happy to hear MLT’s take on it .
