‘Men’s Songs’
Hi Mona & Lisa, I wonder if you ever consider re-wording some of the songs you cover, as some of them are written by men [eg Lennon & McCartney] expressing their love for one woman or another [eg ‘Michelle’] and sound slightly strange, lets say, when sung by young ladies such as yourselves. Just a thought. That said, though, I’m still working my way through the CD’s of yours, and really love your music. ‘Still a Friend of Mine’ is a truly beautiful track, as is the haunting ‘Dreams’. Look after yourselves, and each other, and Stay Safe. PS Thought for the Day; Did you know that it was the Ancient Greeks who invented the Add-Up, Multiply & Divide, but it was the Chinese who invented ….Wait for it… the Takeaway !!

Generally if you have a question specifically for Mona and Lisa, it’s best to post it under “Ask the MonaLisa Twins” rather than here. The general discussion forum is basically for dialogues among club members, and although MLT monitors it, they seldom weigh in.
I believe they’ve addressed the topic you brought up on a previous occasion, although I don’t remember where. In principle you could search the archive to find it, or perhaps another club member recalls.

I can’t remember if it was at the forum or in an interview, but MLT said they generally won’t reword a song to change it from a man’s to a woman’s song. They like to keep the lyrics true to the original.

“Eight Days a Week” and “Please, Please, Me” are exceptions to the “rule”, but to be honest, I actually prefer that they don’t change gender specific lyrics. So I’m good with the decision they’ve made since.
