Awesome! Momentum is building as multi-million views happen more and more frequently. Hundreds of millions of views per video can be a reality.
-
Here are the milestone predictions for the next month or so:
My Generation: 200,000 views on May 3rd
Still a Friend of Mine: 400,000 views on May 12th
Walking in the Air: 100,000 views on June 6th
-
Is it just me, or have the YouTube views increased dramatically this year? And Subscribers are almost 200K!
The absolute winner seems to be “Please Mr. Postman / Wipe Out”. I showed it to the daughter of a friend of mine, who’s a 16yo drummer and she was glued to the video, watched it several times in a row.
Hopefully this is only the beginning of MLT fandom.

We might be able to build a case for that with some hard data, Tomas. For example, 10% of the views of Drive My Car have occurred just in the last eight months since I started recording the numbers. That video is nine years old and has had plenty of time to “settle down”, but if the viewing rates had been flat all that time, the number for the last eight months would be only 7%.
When I have a little more time I may explore this further with other videos.

In that video “Unboxing our YouTube Play button and Q and A” MLT did a year ago and a half ago, they mentioned YouTube subs were at about 140K, and now it is nearly 200K, so in just a span of 1.5 years it jumped by over 50K subs, versus over 10 years for the first 140K subs, so things are accelerating indeed, which is wonderful!

Hey David, do you have an estimate on when “Here, There and Everywhere” will reach 1 million (it hit 900,000 today). It seems the most likely to reach this milestone first among those close to 900,000. Unless “Nowhere Man” is on a much faster pace.
-
Hey, Lynn, that’s a great side calculation! I don’t have much confidence in extrapolating the numbers very far beyond a month, but if the current viewing rates hold, here are the next few videos that would reach a million views:
Africa (April 2023)
Twist and Shout (June 2023)
I’ll Be Back (July 2023)
Nowhere Man (July 2023)
Johnny B. Goode (July 2023)
Here, There and Everywhere (August 2023)
Can’t Buy Me Love (December 2023)
Revolution (May 2024)
Lola (October 2024)
I’m a Believer (November 2024)
Sound of Silence (December 2024)
Two of Us (January 2025)
Of course, there may be some as yet unreleased videos that could beat some of these to a million.

For what it’s worth, in the next few hours Questionable should overtake I Bought Myself a Politician with regard to the total number of YouTube views.
Update: as of 10:15 AM New York time, Questionable has inched (2.54 centimetered) ahead of IBMAP.
-
That’s great to see that Politician has legs! I think it has the potential to explode really big.
-
I was hoping we might see another song hit a million views by the end of this year. Perhaps the release of new songs will bump up the daily views for their older stuff as well.
“Politician”, by the way, has 1.7 million views on Facebook. I believe it is their 3rd most watched video on that platform after “Wish You Were here” (4 million) and “Still a Friend of Mine” (2.6 million).

We’re also coming up on the first video of an original MLT song to reach half a million YouTube views: That’s Life should get there around September 19th.
-
Oops, missed this one: Nowhere Man is about to hit 800,000 views, right on schedule.
