• MLT Do Beatles #3

So I had this CD on today and wow! How about The Night Before? So clean and crisp of a song for the MLT To cover, and hearing Lisa (not quite sure if Mona ) but doing the back ground yes Like Paul Mc Cartney does on that song. And how about White Room?? Mona is tearing it up on the drums, Ginger Baker would be so proud and Lisa on the guitar riffs and I am sure Mona and Lisa are swapping the guitar riffs just like Joe Walsh and Don Felder did on Hotel California. SO my point here is , no matter what song these ladies do, soft rock, to kick in the butt rock, they are the best at what they do hands down!!!

Yes Bill, in fact all 3 MLT Do Beatles collections are stellar in their own right and a pleasure to crank daily in one’s ear… I, too, am partial to ” The Night Before ” and sing alongside  them enjoying doing so with my headphones on….. Yeppers on that !!

Hi Bill, I’m enjoying your spotlighting some of the MLT music! Yes, The Night Before is a nice fast paced song, with challenging vocals.  In an interview MLT said they attempted this song when they were much younger that didn’t turn out the way they wanted, and then did it again years later for this album.  They did a stellar job.  Love Hey Bulldog too.

White Room and Time of the Season are examples where MLT transformed legendary classics, making it all their own, breathing new life into them, that can stand on it’s own, even eclipsing the originals for me.  In Time of the Season, love the classical guitar effect.

When it comes to covers, they have the ability to see what a song is missing or how to add to it, to transform it into something really special, while always maintaining the integrity of the heart and spirit of that song that made it special in the first place.  I’ve see so many famous covers done by other groups where they butchered it into something grotesquely different, but never with the MLT.  They always add value with their covers, to make the original artists proud.

Well put Jung and again Mona and Lisa are in a handful of musicians that can cover a song and do it better that the original. They do breathe new life into songs and do it very well

It’s on BAM #1, not #3, but one of the “new” things MLT did on “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” was have Lisa play the intro on the guitar.  I’m not sure why the Beatles played the intro on a piano, but I think it was genius to switch it to the guitar.  That whole video was genius.  I’ve been meaning to ask Lisa if she remembers what she was playing on the “air” guitar.

I know I can be slow sometimes, so I have to admit I listened to “Hey Bulldog” three times before I realized it was the Twins barking like dogs at the end.  I guess I should give them credit for fooling me the first couple times.

I’m going to say Yes, they do better than originals but on a few, for me , they Equal the original……?
