MLT on the Road

No one in the comments seems to know who it is.
Someone thinks it’s the mamas & Papas.

Well, California Dreamin’ was played right before Time of the Season, so perhaps that’s the source of the confusion.

I mentioned them in the comments.
The Twins going uncredited just chaps my hide. Nice find David. Cheers.

Thanks, Tom! An interstate travelogue was the last place I expected to hear an MLT song, so I was really floored.
Kyle does give them an on-screen credit at the start of the song.

Nice find David! It is so awesome to see MLT music out in the wild. This is just evidence that slowly but surely MLT is making an impact on the world as more people discover their music, and I am sure we will see more and more of this until they become a household name. MLTs Time of The Season is perfection with the scenery and clouds in the sky.
This is reminiscent of my road trips into the north/interior listening to MLT on the stereo. Just east of Vancouver is Hwy 5 (Coqhuilla Highway) that is the main route to the rest of Canada, that winds up into the mountains (gateway to the rockies), you have to climb 1244 meters in a matter of 15 minutes depending on your car to get over the Coquihalla summit.

This was definitely a sweet find. It’s always good to find inspiring road music. Jung, I’m quite familiar with the Coquihalla, having driven it in both directions on several occasions. Up hill, and down hill, into either Kamloops or Kelowna is too much fun. Of course there was significant flood damage last fall (2021), which is currently under repair. Hopefully it will be back to normal soon.
The MLT Halloween video of Time Of The Season was taken down a couple of years ago. I guess it was just a bit too gruesome, even though it was an amusing example of what you can do with Photo Shop.
The Mike Masse/MLT video of If I Needed Someone is still available on Vimeo, and the Africa video is still available, of course, on the MLT website. It’s too bad that the other songs they did with him at that Liverpool concert are not available. Ah well, I guess you had to be there.

David,
I used to live in West Wendover. I started my medical career working at the clinic and on the ambulance. I love their rendition!!

Small world, Diana! The reason I was looking at that video is because I will be driving through that area in a couple of weeks when I go to visit my daughter in Seattle. I’ll be flying from North Carolina to Denver, and then driving the rest of the way so that I can see the last five states of the lower 48 that I haven’t been to yet. If the timing works out as I expect, I’ll probably be spending the night in West Wendover. The hotels seem pretty cheap, presumably because of all the casinos.

Hi Len, the Coquihalla is quite the ride. I will be doing it again in May to visit my friend who lives up near Merritt/Kamloops, beautiful ranch country. The corridor to travel the Coquihalla seems to get shorter every year. Usually between October to April you can have snow blizzards on the pass that make travel treacherous, so May to end of September would be OK, but now with the wild fires, that summer window can be touch and go. Last summer there were times when every route east of Vancouver to the rest of Canada was cutoff due to the fires. It’s a beautiful drive though.
I loved Lisa’s photoshop wizardry with Time Of The Season. I don’t know if it was intentional, but the portrayal of the Addams Family “Tuesday” character was amazing. Love the “If I Needed Someone” video too.

David, that trip sounds like will be very scenic and enjoyable. Hope you have a great time.
If your route from Colorado takes you up through Idaho, I highly recommend going through south eastern Washington State through Pullman up to Spokane to Seattle. The semi arid apple orchard and peach country is beautiful around there. Microsoft used some of the photos of scenery from that area for some of the background to Windows 98 desktop in the day. If you have time, check out “Steamboat Rock State Park” in Washington State as well. The drive along the Columbia river to get there between Coulee City and Grand Coulee Dam is amazing scenery. The town of Leavenworth is also worthy of a visit. You will think you arrived in a small Austrian town, not that I’ve ever been to a real Austrian town, but they built the town to portray a European city in the alps.
And of course all that wonderful road trip scenery is best taken in while playing MLT blaring through the speakers. ????????????

Hey, Jung! I remember you said you used to live in that area. If I do this trip a second time (maybe next year) I’ll take a different route that will allow me to explore that region, along with Yellowstone and the Colorado Rockies. But for the first one I’m just going to cut across Wyoming and Utah and then do a straight-line route (I-84, I-82, I-90) after clipping the corner of Nevada to get to Seattle as fast as possible!

Hi David. We lived in that area from 1965-69, and then visited many dozen times from Vancouver on family road trips all over Washington State, so that whole area brings lots of fond memories for me. Yeah, when you get a chance next year check out those places. You can’t go wrong anywhere around south east and central Washington State really.
I don’t know if you’ve been along that route before, but from Ellensburg where the I82 joins the I90, the scenery along the I90 west to Seattle is great too through Snoqualmie pass. There is a small town of Roslyn along the route where they filmed that 1990s series, Northern Exposure.
-
Washington is one of my uncharted states, so everything will be a new experience for me! But yes, I’ll be going through the Tri Cities, Yakima, and Ellensburg, and I’m looking forward the natural diversity.
I hope next year I can spend more time up there. For some reason the graduation at my college is taking place a full week after classes end, which really cuts into the time that I have free for travel before summer classes begin.

All I will say, “IT’S ABOUT STINKING TIME”.
