First off, I just love the way you both sing this great Beatles’ song and Lisa’s voice really sells the pathos in it. I was really impressed with Mona’s counterpoint run on nylon-stringed guitar that she begins with her thumb at F# on the 6th string and continuing with her thumb at G before she executes a beautiful run moving up the scale. I like to use my thumb on bass strings too on some songs, but I thought Mona’s use of it for two consecutive notes was really cool. Mona, I appreciate how very much each twin brings to the team with talent, personality and goodness.

So my question, Mona, is “what inspired you to create that particular run? It fits the song perfectly. I don’t remember hearing it in the original cut. Where did it come from? I love it.

    Thanks Brian!

I tried to emulate the string part at that point in the song. If you listen back to the original there is the same run happening, just played by different instruments.

By throwing in little things like that I feel it makes the songs that little bit more interesting to listen to. Sometimes I listen to fingerstyle arrangements of songs to get some good ideas.

My fingers are quite long so that comes in handy for using my thumb on the low E string occasionally. I first started doing that when learning John Mayer’s “Why Georgia” as a teenager. He uses his thumb on the left hand a lot so I got used to doing that, too!

As always, thanks for the kindness!

Always love what you both do with the music Mona!  Your creativity always adds what the music is missing.  Yellow and red guitars tiny
