    Hi Mona and/or Lisa;

    Again happy 1st anniversary of the Club!!

    I have another technical question(s).  When you do a cover, how often (if at all) do you change the key of the song or change the octave to higher?  I don’t expect a listing of all of your cover and key changes.  But, I notice when I sing along with the original and with your cover, I have to adjust my voice.  It may be an octave change and I sing lower to harmonize…..but I was just wondering.

    Related to this…..do you two have a natural key,, i.e., one that your voice is the most natural for you?

    I hope you are having a good weekend and have a good week.

    Mike

    Thanks, Mike!

    We actually transpose quite a lot of covers to a different key. Especially if we play songs that were sung by men originally, which is the majority of the tunes we pick.

    With Beatles it’s kind of funny … they had such a huge range and were comfortable singing in so many different keys that some of their songs suit our voices perfectly while others don’t work at all.

    So we often have to change them until they are comfortable for us.
    There isn’t really “one” key that always works for sure, it always depends on the melody.

    I hope you’re having a groovy day! 🙂
    Mona
