Has anyone here ever plugged into an Orange amp? I saw one the other day, but did not have time to try it out. I only had time to try to convince Marlo that it was Christmas in August. She didn’t fall for it.

Sorry JP, but I have zero experience with any amps. I wish you all the luck in the world swaying Marlo’s sense of generosity, tho. Hey, maybe if you’re a good boy, Santa might swing you one for Christmas!

    Hi JP,

I have a friend that has a 50 watt Rockerverb. Really a great amp and tube, however, I tend to stay with Fender, like I have a Bandmaster Head and Mustang V 4-12 cabinet or Vox MVX-150C1 150 WATT. I was going to buy one 3 years ago, however, mama Debbie put an end to that. They are very smooth and clean. They will definitely put out the wattage even at 50 watts. I am thinking of a few Xmas presents for myself and Debbie like the Vox AC 30. They are just clean as everything. Have you ever played a Wazinator? Actually Mona uses one. I was thinking about that but I’m not sure it has a good sound or is it just for keeping in time? Anyway go check the Orange out. The other reason I wanted the Orange Crush was because of the Denver Bronco’s, yea go Bronc’s, oh oh I may have started something.

    Hi JP,

I’ve owned a few of the smaller “terror” Orange amps and cabs, and have tried others in the shops.

Not a great clean sound, but they’re ideal for classic rock.

I keep going back to a Marshall JVM410 though. Gets a good clean sound and fantastic overdriven sounds, and is versatile enough to play in a covers band.

I love hearing everyone talk about their gear.

Walter, this reminds me of a scene from Big Bang Theory – Sheldon: “Now what kind of computer do you have, and if you say a white one, I’ll slap you”

My electric is a Parker. It’s not a Nitefly, but similar. I think it’s a P-38. It has very low miles and is in showroom condition. It has a kool stereo pickup. I had to get a Y cable adapter which enables you to plug into two amps simultaneously. Oh and it’s a Parker. I really don’t get a chance to play it much lately. I usually just pick up my acoustic. It’s a Takamine. I wanna say it’s black? EF341-SC. It has a nice built in pickup with an EQ. It has really nice action for an acoustic. I always had cheap guitars when I was younger, so these feel like the real thing to me.

My go to amp is a Roland that is just a basic 40 watt amp. It has a preamp out. I also have this old Peavey amp I got when I was sixteen. I think it is 65 watts with two 12” speakers. It was pretty kick ass in 1980. But it’s time for a grown-up amp.

As far as playing out, that would be on my front porch. Although, I will pick up a gig in the back yard some nights to escape the roar of the peepers.

Thanks for all your tips on the Orange amps. A boy can dream.

    Hey JP,

I really didn’t mean to put you on the spot but I was thinking does it matter what guitar you are using as in

an acoustic or electric to come up with an amp. Some times I play a $400.00 Yamaha because it sounds good

and a player Stat because it sounds good. But one thing is now I have arrived at a time in my life where I prefer to buy quality when I can, but again Debbie has a say and it’s usually no. I would rather play old tube amps as I think they sound better. Now Darryl has the right idea in a Marshall but again Debbie is in the factor. After 45 years being married I still have to ask permission!!!!!!! Maybe one day we will be lucky to get the kind of instruments we want. Thanks for bringing it up JP.

Lol…My main instrument is….singing…. lol, play tambourine, dabble in harmonica, piano, though all stringed instruments , not happening, I have severe hand/eye co-ordinationination/brain connection that learning to play is deemed impossible with me, I’ve tried, no can do, I’m better with petcyssion type and harmonica, and etc type instruments but…I can do a mean air guitar, drumming, piano, no problem….lol…

I’ve played through them a couple times, nice and clean with good output for the watts. I just never liked them enough to get one. I’m a Vox and Fender guy mostly. Go to guitars right now are an American Deluxe Tele and a Casino modded with a B7.

Beautiful guitars, JP! Nice sticker placement. Awesome pics! Really like the reflection in the ski goggles. Keep an eye on your ????, tho. Looks like he’s plotting something. ????

Really nice guitars JP! I always wanted to get a Parker. The Lead player for Alabama always played one, I’m not into country that much but they were pretty good. Garth always plays a Takamine which both of your guitars have a very bright sound to them. Garth is on the come back trail. I like the way he gave up Music to raise his daughters and then made a come back. A really great song writer and entertainer. How did I get into this, anyway I really like you guitars. I saw a Parker Fly I think down at Guitar Center and I almost bought one, but, you know. Just go down and plug into a few different amps and see which one fits you. Thanks JP for showing us them. Nice guitars JP, especially dig that stylish guitar strap!

Not sure what an Orange amp is. Is it the equivalent of a Hemi in car talk? 🙂

Jung, Orange is a brand name of amplifiers, and they are just the right shade of Orange

Jeff, you re right about our cat, Tex. He is a pretty kool cat. That skiing photo was practically an accident. I was just taking a selfie. It wasn’t until I got home that I realized the reflection element.

Walter, if you want to see a good demo of a Nitefly, look for videos of Adrian Belew. He is of King Crimson fame. I think he is now an official spokesperson for them.

Maybe one day, I’ll come across a Purple Amp, along with a Jax sized Purple Guitar and make some kind of noise, that is, if my eyesight/hand/eye/brain ccoordination-connection perception handicap issue would allow the one time of a miracle for it to be a success and occur….one can dream…

You got it, didn’t you LOL. Very cool amp. Adrian Belew has played with a lot of groups. That guitar is crazy cool!!! With all the guitars he has on there and everything, man I would love that. Thanks for telling me about him because I didn’t realize he played one.
