Thanks for posting this interview, John!  Lots of interesting ground covered, and Paul was in a very talkative mood.

Thanks for posting that John, some great insight from Paul into the Beatles and the dynamics within the band when they worked together etc.  Liked what he said about John Lennon:  “He was the most loveable crazy dude I ever met”.  You can hear a lot of affection Paul felt for John, George and Ringo in his voice as he talked about them.

Another thing I noticed in the interview is how Paul highlights the fact that they were friends before the Beatles, especially when he is talking about George, how they were mates as kids and there was a relationship and bond before the Beatles formed.  The same sentiment is expressed talking about John Lennon.  When Howard Stern suggested after the break up why didn’t Paul just continue the Beatles with George and Ringo without John, and Paul basically said there were deep emotions and the Beatles would not be the same without John, and he couldn’t do it.  While many bands came together as a business relationship, the Beatles were friends, and there was that love and bond underlying everything else which was bigger than the band, even though they might not have realized it in the heat of the moment when they broke up.  I liked what Yoko Ono said to Paul at John’s funeral.  Called Paul over and told him how despite everything, John never stopped loving Paul.  This from Paul.
