Rickenbacker 300 series – A short history
Here is a short history on the Rickenbacker 300 series guitar, in honor of Mona’s Rickenbacker 350v63 and other Rickenbackers in MLTs guitar arsenal, 360 12 string etc!
Given the Rickenbackers and Gretsch’s are some of Mona and Lisa’s favourite electric guitars used in much of their music, I thought it would be great to spotlight Rickenbacker history and philosophy around their guitars, just like the other post/video on “Gretsch Duo Jet – A short history”.

Rickenbacker is the maker of the very first electric guitar in the world, and are known for their high end jangly sound. From Hamburg to Shea Stadium, the Beatles made Rickenbacker guitars famous in the USA. Before the Beatles, Rickenbacker was not that well known, even in the USA where Rickenbackers are made!
John Lennon, Pete Townsend, Tom Petty, REM etc are other famous musicians known for their preference for the Rickenbacker. -
