RIP Don Everly
Posted by David Herrick on 22/08/2021 at 14:40Don Everly of the Everly Brothers passed away yesterday. (Phil died in 2014.) As we’re all probably aware, nearly every group of the 60’s that was known for outstanding vocal harmonies cited the Everly Brothers as a major influence.
I think a very sad song is in order:

That is sad to hear. The music world lost one of it’s bright shining stars. Their influence on music was great indeed.

The Everly Brother where a big influence on the Beatles. They may be gone now but their music will live on.

They influenced everyone from the Beatles to Simon and Garfunkel and points in between. Whenever anyone thinks of the word ‘harmony’, Phil and Don are near the top of the list.
On another side of this……..we continue to lose those who we looked up to in the musical realm. I know this happened to our parents, too, with Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, Bing Crosby and many others. But, I think it is a little different for us because we are of the first TV generation where we could watch the early rock and rollers on TV, bought a bunch of their records, and revisit these groups on YouTube. It is also a reminder that we are not getting any younger either. Oh well…..I imagine this will continue. Mike.

Prayers for his family, friends and fans. Our loss = Heaven’s gain.

So sad to see Don leave us, God bless his family and he is in Rock and Roll Heaven for sure. They set the standard of harmony to me, let it be me is my favorite.
