Well, I got to thinking, and remembered a Beatles-ish style group on the Flinstones…now that’s really putting the ROCK into the ROLL…lol

Now, besides Flinstones, where else in cartoons have you seen Rock n Roll influence, even  in shows with puppets, like the Muppets  !?

Great idea for a topic, Jacki!

The first thing that occurs to me is the Schoolhouse Rock cartoons.  I don’t know if those ever crossed the border into Canada (especially the ones about U.S. history), but they are touchstones for me for several musical genres.

Okay, my turn.  Inspired by the stage configuration of the Archies:

David, Brady Kids actually sounded pretty good together.  In grade 5 to 6 the Brady Bunch was my favorite after school show I use to watch.  Learned many years later in a documentary that big brother Barry and big sister Marcia (sibling characters) had quite the real life romance going on behind the scenes.

Hey Jung, I’d forgotten about the Brady Kids cartoon…lol…. now to add to your BTS info on Brady cast …I believe I also read where Barry and his Mom were an item, or at least, attempt …lol….So, it wasn’t always about Marcia, Marcia , Marcia…yes, I watched BB, and it’s spinoff, Brady Brides…lol…ok, now back to being on topic… Rick n Roll in cartoons….??

I never read the book, but supposedly Barry Williams detailed all these behind-the-scenes shenanigans in his autobiography, “I Was a Teenage Greg”.

Of course, where the Brady Bunch franchise goes, the Partridge Family can’t be far behind:

A later version of this song (by the same artist) actually became a top-ten hit in most of the English-speaking world:

Jacki, with all the Brady Bunch shenanigans going on, they could have maybe spun off a hot and steamy mini series soap opera called the Brady Secrets showing the behind the scenes romantic life of the cast.  🙂

David, the Partridge Family Gypsy Girl tune is kind of catchy too.  There were some good music indeed in the musical cartoons.  I saw a short mention of the little baby girl of the Partridge Family, Tracy (Suzanne Crough) died 5 years ago of an illness, how sad.  She was born the same year as me.

Yes, Jung, at our age it’s sad, and a little scary, to hear that one of our contemporaries has died of natural causes.

There actually was a short-lived TV drama in 1990 called The Bradys, starring all of the original cast except Maureen McCormick.  The drama was fictional, though:  Bobby is in a wheelchair, Marcia is an alcoholic, etc.

Back to the main topic, let’s not forget the cartoon versions of the Osmonds, the Jackson Five, and of course the Beatles.  Plus there was one in 1973 starring the voice and music of Rick Springfield.  An album of songs was released, but all I could find in animated form was the theme song for the show:

Then there was this acid trip of a show that aired on public television about an hour after Sesame Street, for big kids who were still awake at 6 PM:
