Set List
Posted by Bill Isenberg on 19/08/2020 at 00:03Hello Everyone,
Got a fun one for you all, what do you think would be the Mona and Lisa’s set list if we attended a concert? A hard one for me and I will put one together soon but wanted to see how this one goes! All I can say this is a hard one for me, I want all the music to play…LOL…Good luck

No specific songs or in order…..but before intermission I would load it up with their original music (Close To You, Still A Friend, Wide Wide Land, etc). Then after intermission I would load it with covers (Beatles, Starman, Lola, God Only Knows). That does not mean that before intermission would be strictly originals nor does it mean that after intermission would be strictly covers. But, that’s how I would generally set it up. Encore: Still A Friend.

Damn…lol…what a Q to put us all on the spot with…I want them to do All their Originals of course, then for covers, again I’d want all to be played…but… The ones that stand out, I Saw Her Standing There, Johnny B Goode, Wish You Were Here, For What It’s Worth…etc…. I’d be front and centre stage in front of stage because I want no tall people obstructing my view…for a change….lol I’m only 4 foot 6 ish inches tall approx, in others words under 5 feet tall….??

That’s an interesting question, Bill. I imagine it would depend on the size of their entourage. If they don’t have backing musicians then they might stick to the songs they’ve done in the duo sessions. And if they don’t have roadies then they would probably try to minimize the number of times they need to switch out or retune their instruments.
I like Michael’s idea of original songs before intermission, and covers after. As a variation on that, a couple of years ago I saw Peter Yarrow perform at a small venue, and at the start of the show he said, “I’m gonna do the songs I want to do first, and after intermission I’ll do the songs YOU want me to do.” In the lobby there was a table where we could write down our requests during the break. Of course, that’s easier to manage when it’s just one guy with one instrument.

I think starting off the show with two or 3 popular covers, then mostly originals through the body of the show, and then towards the end have some more covers, and have Sweet Lorraine as the finale to end the show with a memorable bang.
At the Cavern they said because the audience is mostly tourists who came to experience Beatles and classic 60s songs, they would do mostly covers throughout with a sprinkling of originals. But if it is an MLT concert, and the audience is there to see MLT, then I would want to hear all their originals with a sprinkling of covers.

Michele and Club members,
My thought as well, I was thinking starting off with This Boy Is Mine and go with the first album to start the show and before the intermission go to the covers, then after the intermission hit the Orange Album and then sit and do the Duo Sessions covers just the two of them, and bounce back and forth from Covers and ending with Still a Friend of Mine, then for the curtain call? For What’s it Worth, The Last Time, Revolution and Club 27 to End!!
But I agree I want all the songs going from the CD with California Dreaming, San Francisco, Hotel California and the Concert CD and etc…I listen to all of them from number 1 track to the end. My day is not complete until I hear the Mona and Lisa Twins, their Music is awesome.

I’d like to believe that the Twins currently have at least 10 unpublished original songs, so they should start with those, then, in no particular order, I’d love to see the following:
- Hotel California
- House of the Rising Sun
- Michelle
- I saw her Standing there
- Catch the Wind
- Johnny B Goode
- Wish You were Here
- Still A Friend of Mine
- One More Time
- Wide Wide Land
But, honestly, I’d just be happy to see them playing live.
By the way, Jacki, Lisa and Mona would better understand 137 cm rather than 4′ 6″. You’re 29 cm shorter than Lisa who is 5 cm shorter than me.

Lol, by the way Bill, I grew up in a non metric old school household, of using Imperial measurements, such as inches, feet, pounds, ounces, etc… when Metric was taught in my elementary school years, I really struggled with that concept, still do, as also Math was the worst school enemy all throughout my school years, and still so now, so it’s best I stick with what I know best, comfortable for outdoor Temps, I’ll use Degrees Farenheit and that’s what’s used in Canada…so it’s best I stick with what I know best, comfortable with, especially in baking, if I see a recipe in metric, got to convert it to other and if out n about, need to inquire, I specify in old school, and the people are happy to oblige, lol… And for MLT understanding metric better , I agree…in Europe, etc, it’s more standard, common used as to the old school Imperial…besides, I’m so used to saying I’m for 4 foot six inches (4’6″ ), it’s autopilot for me to say as I have…lol
-
Jackie,
Thanks for the information my friend. And people who know me, will all say Old School…and proud of it!! LOL….
-
Jacki, I’m with you there with metric vs imperial measurements.  Although in Canada we converted officially to the metric system years ago, when it comes to weight and height, it’s pounds and inches/feet for me. When someone tells me their weight in Kilograms or height in centimeters I have no feel for it. When I hear 100 pounds, I have an idea how heavy that is, but 45 Kilograms is just a number, does not compute unless I convert it to pounds. When it comes to speed and distance, I was forced to get a feel when driving. But even 1 KM distance, I silently compute it as 0.6 miles in my head.
-
It’s fascinating to me how, with regard to units of measurement, Canada seems to be caught in a tug-of-war between U.S. proximity and worldwide standardization. I just hope you guys don’t weigh yourself in “stone”.
-
In the U.S we tend to measure distance in terms of time. I don’t know the miles or kilometres to my son’s place in Arizona, but I know it’s a 19 hour drive.
-
Bill…I’m sort of like that way too, describing distance in time frame of hours rather than miles/kms…. I also have no sense of direction so I’m one for going by landmarks …lol

Lynn, good point. For me Palm Springs CA to Vancouver BC express driving in a mustang is 21 hours, possibly 22 if they don’t believe me when I tell the Canadian border officer I didn’t buy anything in the 2 weeks I was cross border!  🙂 -
I myself think they should open the show with the whole Orange cd. Then do a couple from When we’re Together. Say — This Boy is Mine — Dreams — I want to Kiss You — Nothing In Vain.
End the show with the following songs
You Can’t Do That
Sunshine Superman
Two of Us
Your Going To Lose That Girl
Drive My Car
Encore
Day Tripper
Johnny Be Good
Bus Stop
—————————————————————————————————
Then Goodnight  Stay Groovy !!!
