You Can’t Do That has overtaken You Really Got Me for the #5 spot. YRGM is now at #6 with S = 5.5.

I just got out of bed and clicked on the MLT YouTube page, and by sheer chance found the Club 27 video between two and three minutes after it was posted! Depending on the unknown number of seconds in that range, the initial S value is somewhere between 120 and 180.
Ten minutes later, it’s between 89 and 97. Ten more minutes, and it’s between 77 and 81. Another ten, and it’s between 72 and 75. So it’s looking like there is no “rise time” for a video: the peak is at the very beginning. I don’t have a YouTube account, but I’m guessing that means that you can sign up for notifications of new videos.
Since the video is over four minutes long, and I found it in less than three, this also answers the question of whether you have to watch the entire thing for YouTube to count it as a view.
It’s reached 1000 views in 72 minutes, at which point S = 58. If this initial pace continued without dropping off, we’d be at 1,000,000 views in just 50 days!

Here’s a special birthday update of the top ten, eight hours after the YouTube release of the new video:
1) Club 27: S = 31.1 (new)
2) Please Mr. Postman / Wipeout: S = 16.2 (-0.4)
3) Wish You Were Here: S = 12.6 (-0.3)
4) Both Sides Now: S = 9.1 (-3.0)
5) Nowhere Man: S = 7.5 (-0.7)
6) You Can’t Do That: S = 5.6 (-0.2)
7) You Really Got Me: S = 5.2 (-14.0)
8) Lola: S = 4.6 (-0.1)
9) While My Guitar Gently Weeps: S = 4.3 (0.0)
10) I’m a Believer: S = 3.8 (-0.1)
For comparison, Club 27 after eight hours is about where You Really Got Me was after fourteen hours.
Update: after 16 hours, Club 27 is at S = 21.3. I wonder if it waved to itself as it passed S = 27…
And now after 24 hours, S = 16.7. Looks like the postman will be reclaiming his mail route in an hour or so.

Wow, thirty-two. These stats are kool.
Mr Postman still going strong “Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow …”
Thanks David

38 hours after appearing on YouTube, the Club 27 video is in third place at S = 12.4, behind PMP/W and WYWH.
-
I’m impressed, that’s impressive, though I still have no real full understanding of the mathematics behind your calculations, etc tocone up with the stats, I jyst know from what you’re stating that it’s all going in a fab direction at an acceleration of light years going beyond infinity, and like Spock would probably say… ” Logically Fascinating “
-
David, those are fascinating stats on how Club 27 trended right from the get go, was fun and nail biting, thanks for doing it. Hope it continues to trend strong.
I guess collectively we can all help it along by reposting it on social media.

After 74 hours (just over three days), Club 27 is #4 with S = 7.7. So it has been ranked on both sides now of Both Sides Now, and should be overtaken in a couple of hours by Nowhere Man, who this time does know where he’s going to.
-
You Can’t Do That has taken over the #5 spot from Club 27, which is at S = 5.5 five days after its appearance on YouTube.
-
One full week after its debut, Club 27 is in eighth place with S = 4.2, followed by You Really Got Me, which is now at S = 4.0. The venerable While My Guitar Gently Weeps is back up to #7.
-
It’s quite amazing at any given moment 4.2 people are watching Club 27, and in the mix someone new is discovering MLT for the first time all the time.
-
Kudos to staticians on here, from the sounds of what’s being posted, all is going in an impressive and accelerated velocity within themselves, keep it going ????
-
Club 27 has left the building! The top ten list now ends with I’m a Believer (S = 3.7), You Really Got Me (S = 3.6), and Drive My Car (S = 3.2).
If current trends continue and no new videos are released, in a few days YRGM will drop out and Till There Was You will rejoin the list.

I’ve actually been monitoring pretty much every video with an S value above one, so in celebration of the midpoint of the year, and of the proximate U.S. and Canadian national holidays, how about a top twenty list:
1) Please Mr. Postman / Wipeout: S = 15.7 (-0.5)
2) Wish You Were Here: S = 12.3 (-0.3)
3) Both Sides Now: S = 7.4 (-1.7)
4) Nowhere Man: S = 6.9 (-0.6)
5) You Can’t Do That: S = 5.5 (-0.1)
6) Lola: S = 4.4 (-0.2)
7) While My Guitar Gently Weeps: S = 4.3 (0.0)
8) I’m a Believer: S = 3.6 (-0.2)
9) Drive My Car: S = 3.2 (0.0)
10) You Really Got Me: S = 3.1 (-2.1)
11) Till There Was You: S = 3.1 (-0.1)
12) Africa: S = 3.0 (0.0)
13) Sunshine Superman: S = 2.8 (-0.4)
14) Here, There and Everywhere: S = 2.8 (0.0)
15) If I Fell: S = 2.6 (0.0)
16) I’ll Follow the Sun: S = 2.5 (0.0)
17) Close to You: S = 2.4 (-0.2)
18) Sweet Lorraine: S = 2.2 (-0.2)
19) Club 27: S = 2.2 (-28.9)
20) When I’m Sixty-Four: S = 2.1 (0.0)
-
That’s great to see MLT originals Close To You, Sweet Lorraine, and Club 27 trending in the top 20 along with the top covers in YouTube. Great stats David, thanks.
