Thanks David for pulling the stats. I’m really glad to see I Bought Myself A Politician doing well and surging. Mr Postman is amazing.

I managed to catch I’m Looking Through You within an hour after it was posted on YouTube, but I’ll probably still mostly be doing just end-of-the-day updates on the numbers. (I don’t think there’s much new to discover in the hour-by-hour stats after the first day.)

    One hour after release, C = 87.5 and V = 43224. After two hours, C = 50.1 and V = 24720. After three hours, C = 62.1 and V = 30672. After four hours, C = 47.8 and V = 23592. For the rest of Nov. 7th (in my time zone), C = 65.2 and V = 32170.

    For Nov. 8th, C = 55.7 and V = 27481. For Nov. 9th, C = 40.8 and V = 20141. For Nov. 10th, C = 34.2 and V = 16872.

    Continuing with I’m Looking Through You, for Nov. 11th, C = 37.6 and V = 18570. For Nov. 12th, C = 40.0 and V = 19772. For Nov. 13th, C = 30.0 and V = 14834. And for Nov. 14th, C = 25.3 and V = 12492.

That’ll do it for the daily updates. I’ll give weekly updates on this video through the next top 20 report at the beginning of December.

It looks like I’m Looking Through You is holding strong at 18,570 views a day, about to hit 100K views in just 4 days! Glad to see I Bought Myself a Politician is still pulling strong at #3.

So it looks like the numbers have largely recovered from their October slump! Only three of the top 20 videos have dropped in viewership, and they’re all among the most recent, so that’s to be expected.

It will be interesting to see if any of the Christmas-themed videos experience a surge this month. I’ll compare the December data to November next month and report on any upticks.

Many thanks, David! Very encouraging numbers! I expect an uptick in Christmas vid views, too.

I got kind of a late start on this one, but for the final hour (New York time) of Dec. 21st, the number of views per day for Songbird is clocking in at V = 15360, and the number of simultaneous views stands at C = 42.3. I plan to do daily updates for the next week.

    For Dec. 22nd, V = 14351 and C = 39.5. For Dec. 23rd, V = 6049 and C = 16.7. For Dec. 24th, V = 3551 and C = 9.8. For Dec. 25th, V = 2431 and C = 6.7.

    Continuing with Songbird, for Dec. 26th, V = 1867 and C = 5.1. For Dec. 27th, V = 1670 and C = 4.6. For Dec. 28th, V = 1379 and C = 3.8. For Dec. 29th, V = 935 and C = 2.6.

So compared to MLT’s last original release on YouTube (I Bought Myself a Politician), Songbird’s viewership has fallen off considerably faster. I kind of expected that, given the latter’s more introspective nature. It’s still a great song, of course, and it passes through my head several times a day. Too bad YouTube can’t count mental views.

I’ll be out of town and off the grid for the next few days, but when I get back I’ll compile the stats for December.

    19) Lola: V = 520 (-290)

    20) I’m a Believer: V = 516 (-209)

    .

So like October, December seems to have been another “down” month across the board with respect to viewership. Perhaps everyone was too busy baking/eating Christmas cookies. I’m guessing the numbers will rebound in January, though!

Here are the December stats for the Christmas-related videos: the number of views per day, followed by the percentage change relative to November:

    .

    Merry Christmas from the MonaLisa Twins (2009): V = 21 (+104%)

    WWT / Santa Twins are Coming to Town (2014): V = 1.7 (-30%)

    WWT / Santa Twins Behind the Scenes (2014): V = 3.1 (-36%)

    Winter Wonderland (2014): V = 28 (+75%)

    It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year (2015): V = 75 (+61%)

    Wonderful Christmastime (2016): V = 120 (+65%)

    Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (2017): V = 147 (+108%)

    Little Drummer Boy (2018): V = 105 (+72%)

    Christmas Album Trailer (2019): V = 17 (+21%)

    Snow Falls Softly at Night (2019): V = 71 (+109%)

    All I Want Christmas to Be (2019): V = 146 (+97%)

    Walking in the Air (2020): V = 152 (+23%)

    .

So except for the two DVD ads, we are indeed seeing the expected Christmastime bump in views.

That’s awesome David, thanks. Mr Postman is amazing always on top. Great to see Songbird near the top at 1579 views a day and 4.35 simultaneous views at any one time.

Thanks for these stats, David. To think that when I watch Wish You Were Here there are two and half other people watching it at the same time. I wish that half person could become whole again. ????☕️☕️

Thanks again, these numbers are very interesting. I think you are correct regarding less viewership in December due the holiday festivities.

JP, you just reminded me of a passage from my favorite children’s novel, The Phantom Tollbooth. I’ll pare it down a bit here:

Milo: “Pardon me for staring, but I’ve never seen half a child before.”

Boy: “It’s 0.58 to be precise. We’re just the average family… mother, father, and 2.58 children. And as I explained, I’m the 0.58.”

Milo: “It must be rather odd being only part of a person.”

Boy: “Not at all. Each family also has an average of 1.3 automobiles, and since I’m the only one that can drive three-tenths of a car, I get to use it all the time.”
