    I was really curious as to your decision making process on how you decide what cover songs you end up recording and those that you decide against doing. Being the “sound man” and playing percussion, I can remember having some rather spirited discussions in the band on this topic, especially since we played clubs back then. Just as a side note, I would love to hear you do Suite Judy Blue Eyes, I think your singing this  song would be wonderful.

    Hi Paul!

    A lot of different things factor into which songs we choose to cover, but number one, the song has to connect to us at some level. Meaning that by playing it we can do more than merely repeat the words and melodies written by someone else.

    We always pick something that inspires us and that we get excited about; musically, lyrically, conceptually or all three of those things! 🙂

    Sometimes we have a good video idea for a particular song in mind, too. Or it could be that we’re travelling somewhere that has a connection to a particular song we like. Or that we’d like to try something we’ve never done before, songs that intrigue or move us.

    We still have a very long list of songs we’d like to give a go one day, and a lot of (to us) influential bands that we’d love to pay homage to by playing one of their tunes. And of course, there are still 300+ more Beatles songs … 300+ more of our favourite songs 😉

    “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” has been on that list for a long time by the way – we love that song. It’s really tempting to have a go at some CSN one day – those harmonies are to die for! If only there were 8, no better 9, 10, 11 days a week 🙂

    Thanks for the question!

    Hi Mona;

    As one who has covered Suite: Judy Blue Eyes………it has that strange tuning that Stephen uses now and then……EEEEBE (from Bruce Palmer), it is 3 songs in one, and there is a little Spanish at the 3rd “movement”.   Vocally it is very challenging…….probably more challenging vocally than it is on the instruments.  But, if you two can do God Only Knows with its harmonies, then Suite: Judy Blue Eyes is doable.   Mike.

    That’s what makes MLT covers so special, they they make it their own.  Not a photocopy of the original, but add tremendous unique value so when you hear the MLT’s interpretation of a song, you get a unique MLT experience, worth listening to.  John Lennon and Paul McCartney echoed that exact sentiment in an interview.  They’d prefer one of their songs uniquely  interpreted instead of a group copying their style.
