David, i need my beauty rest. If you saw me you would know why.
I should have thought of this one sooner. Long live Izzy
-
Maybe my favorite cover by the twins is a good hope song.

Mona and Lisa introduced me to this gem I like. They did it so good out of a cave in the Australian outback. I love MLTs raw and rockier acoustic version.
-
The original studio version by Jason Mraz. For some reason this song and Jason Mraz is amazingly popular in Korea.
-
Hello Jung, I’ve been away for a while. As always, I appreciate your contributions. I love Jason Mraz. Here is another one of my favorites
-
Hi Diana, enjoyed Lucky! Thanks for posting it. Jason Mraz music all make me feel really good, and his lyrics are so positive and inspirational.

Does anyone else love “The Grass Roots”. This song reminds of going roller skating when I was 12 to meet boys. “Sooner or Later”
-
I love all the hits of the Grass Roots, Diana, especially Midnight Confessions. I’ve never explored their album tracks, although I’ve been meaning to.
They performed in the first rock concert I ever attended, where they were one of three opening acts (along with Herman’s Hermits and Gary Puckett) for the Monkees in 1986.
-
Hi David,
Glad you like them. I’ve seen them in concert also. A few other favorites are “Temptation Eyes” and “The River Is Wide”
-
-
In terms of the sheer number of songs that I enjoy singing along with, the Four Seasons are topped only by the Beatles. And Frankie is still touring at age 88!
-
Hi David and Tom! I love them too
-
That’s one of the singalongiest ones, Diana! Long ago I wrote a parody of it dealing with one of the frustrating aspects of being a teacher. (It’s one of over two dozen such parodies I’ve authored over the years. Subtopic: songs of despair.) It’s about an instructor who generously offers to allow students to take as long as they want on an exam, and there’s still one there an hour after everyone else has gone. The title is Won’t You Hurry for Me.
-
David,
I can’t believe this. I was just getting ready to post a new topic called “Parody Challenge”. I also love writing parodies related to my nursing adventures (in case people don’t know, I’m currently a jail nurse). I wouldn’t dare post one of them. But, here is the first verse of “Saturday In The Park”.
Saturday in the jail, I think it was the 4th of July
Saturday in the jail, I think it was the 4th of July
People lying, People crying
A man selling cocaine, asking to call his mom
-
Wow, Diana, that’s incredible! I guess there are certain jobs where you just have to engage in gallows humor to maintain your sanity.
I’m looking forward to the parody challenge. I’ve written parodies of five original MLT songs, plus about half a dozen oldies that MLT happen to have covered.

I know that one well, Juergen, but had never seen a video of it before. Those 1978 clothes the kids are wearing really feel familiar!
-
Yeah David the hairstyles and the clothes in the video are really hot. But it was an uncomplicated time. My parents took me to a clothing store and they just bought me clothes that I liked. No branded clothes like today. Something comfortable and practical. I never liked going to the hairdresser. Whenever he asked me what my hairstyle should look like, I liked to say: somehow shorter. And that’s how my hairstyle looked as a child: sometimes shorter, usually longer. When I see today’s kids all styled up, with their expensive brand-name clothes and the latest hairstyle trends, I often think: poor kids, they’ve lost their innocence to the clothing industry so early.
As for music videos, I feel the same way as you: sometimes I don’t know that there are music videos for certain songs. As I have already written, there were very few TV stations in our country that broadcast music videos. Today I just have fun googling for old songs and watching the videos. This is often very entertaining.

Hello Diana,
great that you are back again. I hope you are doing well and that you have a good time. I have (very…) delayed post here that I actually wanted to send weeks ago. So: now or never.
-
Hello Jurgen,
Thanks for the post. That’s one of the first songs that I ever heard (I was about 2 years old). Good to hear from you!
-

This is from a beautiful song by Donald Fagan circa 1982.
IGY
Get your ticket to that wheel in space while there’s time
The fix is in
You’ll be a witness to that game of chance in the sky
You know we’ve got to win
Here at home we’ll play in the city
Powered by the sun
Perfect weather for a streamlined world
There’ll be spandex jackets, one for everyoneWhat a beautiful world this will be
What a glorious time to be free
What a beautiful world this will be
What a glorious time to be free
Whoo-hoo -
Here’s a little ditty with a positive message:
-
Oh, and there’s this one you may know…
-
„I’ll build a city for you. Made of glass and gold and stone“ (Ich baue eine Stadt für dich…)
There is so much so much too much
Advertising everywhere
Too much bread and too much play
Happiness has no name
All roads are traveled
In the hearts cold images
No one can read minds
The climate is getting milder
I’ll build a city for you
Glass and gold will turn to stone
And every road that leads out
Leads back in again
I’ll build a city for you and for me
No one knows what he looks like
Or what his name is
Everybody’s on the run here
The tears are made of ice
There must be another way
It can’t go on like this
Where can I find support, where can I find shelter
The sky is made of lead here
I don’t give any more answers
To the wrong questions
Time is running out so fast
And happiness is something you have to chase
I’ll build a city for you
Glass and gold will turn to stone
And every road that leads out
Leads back in again
I’ll build a city for you and for me
I’ll build a city for you (I’ll build a city for you)
Glass and gold will turn to stone
And every road that leads out
Leads back inside
I’m building a city for you and for me (and for me)
A city where there is no fear, only trust
Where we break down the walls of greed and scorn
Where the light does not go out (the water brightens)
And every morning wakes up new (and the dream is worthwhile)
And where every glance flows through time and space into our hearts
I’ll build a city for you (build a city for me)
Glass and gold become stone (for you)
And every road that leads out
Leads back in again
I’m building a city for you and for me (and for me)
I’ll build a city for you (build a city for you)
From glass and gold to stone (from glass and gold to stone)
Every road that leads out
Leads back in again
I’m building a city for you and for me-
Jurgen
Once again. Another great song that I’ve never heard before

Thanks, I’m glad Diana. Sometimes the German music scene brings forth beautiful blossoms. Leslie Clio, a young woman from Hamburg, has fulfilled her dream of having her own record label after her fourth album. I can’t clearly classify her music. Very versatile, somewhere between pop and soul.
