Here is a true California sound.  This is one of Brian’s very early songs from the Beach Boys 2nd album, where we can witness his hauntingly beautiful vocal ballads.  I think this is an early preview into the musical progression that would happen later in Pet Sounds.

California sound?????  If you include those who were in Laurel Canyon during the 1960s, then it would be Beach Boys, M and P, Jan and Dean, Eagles, Jackson Browne, CSN(Y), Buffalo Springfield, Byrds, the San Fran groups and singers (Jimi, Janis, Grateful Dead, et al), James Taylor, Joni, and a bunch of others.  Also, there was a Riverside, CA wing of country music.  So many to choose from.  Mike.
