Hi Jacki. Well you know rules are made for breaking. LOL. 🙂Here is a true California sound. This is one of Brian’s very early songs from the Beach Boys 2nd album, where we can witness his hauntingly beautiful vocal ballads. I think this is an early preview into the musical progression that would happen later in Pet Sounds.

Here is some Beach Boys early Blues instrumental. It wasn’t all surfing.

California sound????? If you include those who were in Laurel Canyon during the 1960s, then it would be Beach Boys, M and P, Jan and Dean, Eagles, Jackson Browne, CSN(Y), Buffalo Springfield, Byrds, the San Fran groups and singers (Jimi, Janis, Grateful Dead, et al), James Taylor, Joni, and a bunch of others. Also, there was a Riverside, CA wing of country music. So many to choose from. Mike.

Hi Mike, I had posted a specific post to reference only California based bands/singers in particular specifically, otherwise, we’d be here til Kind0gdom come listing every nook and cranny….lol  I’m sorry if you had missed the posting from me where I said that I had meant specifically from California….
