For all the guitarists at the Club, here are two great iconic guitars compared in this really fun and interesting video, and you get to hear some awesome guitar riffs as each guitar is put through it’s paces.  The way these two guitars, Gretsch Duo Jet and Gibson Les Paul, are compared by a professional, even I can notice the nuanced differences between them in the sounds!  If anything this video highlights how amazing the electric guitar is, and I learned a lot too!  Enjoy!

Now that was as fun as a Corvette – Porsche, or Camaro – Mustang shoot out comparison!  🙂

I love all guitars, whether it be a Rickenbacker, Gretsch, Stratocaster, Gibson Les Paul, etc…if I enjoy the sounds emanating from them, that’s a good thing, now what I will say though, if ever there was a Purple one or a Fuschia Pink one , or both in metallic colour versions of Pink /Purple and if I ever  won the 649 or Lotto Max Jackpot  ( we’re talking over the 1 million  jackpot amount, more like 60-80 million jackpot worth ), you damn well bet I’d be buying my dream guitatrs, invite Team MLT  to come and put on a private concert and I’d invite All my MLTBuzzGroovy Posse Friends along for the event…..you betcha 😀

Well Im really hoping you win that jackpot Jacki!  There will be some happy MLT clubbers then.  I liked that video most because of the indepth info it gave about Lisa’s Duo Jet.

Can’t wait for you to win Jacki. Thinking of booking my airline ticket already! Always wanted to visit Canada.

Well..…..I have a bias between the two guitars.  For hard-driving RnR I would go LP but for more country-rock sound I would pick the Gretsch.  The Gretsch does have a “cleaner” sound to it……and overall I was surprised that the Gretsch could hang with the LP in some of the testing.  The LP was made for reverb which is OK if that is what you like.

My own personal experience………I only have an LP Jr. and a Baby Jet Gretsch. I like them both but I cannot use the LP Jr. where we play because it is too strong in the venue which holds around 150 to 200.  So, I have to use some other electric that has a less strong sound…..then it depends on what we are playing.  If I want understated electric, I usually go with the Rick or the Godin 5th Ave.  A little stronger I go with the Gibson ES-335.  Oh well……these are good problems to have.  Mike.
