VOLUME 3 ALBUM
Hi Mona and Lisa,
I have been listening tp volume 3 a lot lately in the car and with, a really great album. Question were you Mona and Lisa playing Classical guitars in TIme of the Season as it really was sweet and on White Room Lisa, you played a Wah Wah which was a really good version of that song but what was Mona playing? An acoustic or the RIckenbacker?
What kind of Wah was it?

Hi Walter,
Yes, that’s a classical nylon string guitar I played on Time Of The Season. I doubled up the solo so it is me playing several tracks on top of each other. I thought it added an interesting touch to the whole thing.I couldn’t remember what electric guitar (no acoustics) we used for the rhythm part on “White Room” so I had to open up the recording session. So … The rhythm parts were played on the trusty Gretsch Duo Jet, not the Rickenbacker. Mona played the drums on the song which I remember her enjoying a lot. She loves Ginger Baker!
I recorded the lead parts on a Fender Strat and used a Wah effect setting from my boss GT-8 pedal. It was fun to revisit that song just now. Since it isn’t on YouTube it’s been quite a while since I last heard it. It was such a cool song to play 🙂

I agree with you on Volume 3. Every song on there is incredible. White Room really shows off Lisa and Mona’s many talents. Lisa’s got a real Jack Bruce vibe going, and then she tears into those guitar licks like she wrote them. It’s no surprise that Mona Baker is a fan of Ginger.
This is a great album for my morning commute. Sometimes Morning Has Broken comes on at just the right time as the road turns into the sunrise.

I agree JP, Morning Has Broken is one of my favorite songs by the Cat and Lisa the way you doubled up on tracks with the classical guitar, it was a brilliant idea. The Boss effects pedal is a really good effects pedal to get that right sound and Mona with the drums is just tremendous. Baker is in the top 3 drummers in the world, I don’t know who is better, Baker or Bonham or Mona. Mona should play a solo on the drums at some point in time when your doing another video. I know that’s not her #1 instrument but I think it would be cool. Were you able to get the Orange Amp, JP? I hope you did. Stay Groovy everyone.
