Jung great post my friend. I have said this before I put Mona and Lisa up against the best in my book, they can rock the roof off any club they play in or can simply just give us beautiful music and when either one does a guitar solo, the other one is so supportive and that person either MOna or Lisa keeps the rhythm going for the the person doing the lead. My heavens I thank god for these talented ladies every day. So to me? Mona and Lisa are my guitar hero’s now and beyond.
-
Hey Bill, thanks, and very well said! Mona and Lisa can sure blow the roof off any venue, and they are our guitar heroes indeed. 🙂
I love this song for so many reasons, and another one is the brilliant guitar arrangement for this acoustic version of this song. Love the leading guitar intro before Mona leads in with her awesome as usual lead vocals, and Lisa’s backing harmonies and the La La La, but here I wanted to point out the wonderful lead guitar line throughout, especially at about 2:15 where Lisa takes off with such brilliant guitar flourishes. In the studio version, this is about where the choir and horns come in, but in the acoustic version the guitar arrangement here is so magical! Love it. My guitar heroes!

I know this thread is about guitar work, but it just occurred to me that the choir-and-horns part of the studio version of Sweet Lorraine functions similarly to the piccolo trumpet portion of Penny Lane. That may be part of why this song clicked with me instantly the first time I heard it.
-
Hi David. Yes I know what you mean, I felt the same way. That part has a Penny Lane feel as well as a bit of Eleanor Rigby. The chorus part has the swinging fun feel of Help Me Rhonda and Yellow Submarine. It has all the magic of the 60s in a modern style. Such brilliant inspired song writing.

Hi Jung,
I always enjoy reading your posts. I did notice someone missing from the many lists. I think Nancy Wilson from Heart is superb.
-
Thanks Diana. Oh yeah, Nancy Wilson would certainly belong on any guitar hero list of all time. Remember back in the 70s and 80s Heart were the Queen of the guitars.
-
The first time I heard ‘Crazy on You’ and ‘Magic Man” I was in Jr. High. (I think we are the same age right? Class of 81. Now, I’m so MLT crazy that nobody rises to their level. It’s so cool to chat with other people who feel the same way
-
Diana, yeah Class of 81, can’t believe so many moons have passed since then. I remember Computer Science class back then, they had us punch all these holes in cards and then we had to feed the cards into the computer. 🙂
Crazy on You was great and Barracuda too. I also liked their 1987 hit Alone, it starts off as a ballad and builds up.

She’s singing with her eyes closed
And you can almost hear the band ????????????Are there any others?
JP
I love Lisa’s guitar work on Sweet Lorraine. Those riffs are great. The Duo Session really hit on every nuance of the Orange version.
-
JP, the band part towards the end of the Wide Wide Land is awesome, love it. Another one that comes to mind with a band part is No More Worries Company. Has the celebration feel of a Sargent Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band and For the Benefit of Mr Kite. It’s brilliant. Orange has the kind of artistry you find in Sargent Peppers and Pet Sounds.

Diana,
I feel the same way, Mona Lisa Twins are second to none in my book and my life is filled with their music day in and day out, these ladies are special in our lives right now and thank god for them everyday. God Bless the Mona Lisa Twins!!-
Hi Bill,

Thanks Diane, I know at times I Go over the top with my comments but they come from the heart. Mona and Lisa are to me once in a life time and I am so happy that I found them on U Tube. Their music, approach to life and just wonderful ladies makes all the differce to me in this crazy world we live in. Knowing how much they love this music is so cool and I love how they cover songs and make them their own. Example is Baby Mine , first time i ever heard that song and the arrangement is perfect and voacals are spot on and of courrse the guitar riffs from Lisa is top notch. Really they both are so talented it is a wonderful thing to witness, with Mona with all her talents, drums, guitar, flute, accordin, etc and Lisa with her talents of guitar work, vocals wow they are the best I have ever seen and I have been around the music industry for a number of years and these ladies are the best thing to happen in a very long time as far as I am concerned.

Well, Thanks in oart to my 2nd older bro, a guitar enthusiast, he likes to jam from time to time with buddies, I grew up exposed and enjoyed the likes of Stevie Ray Vaugh, David Wilcox, BB King, Eddie Van Halen, Heart, Kiss, Jeff Heakey, Lucas Haneman, ( both Jeff and Lucas was/is blind)many Blues guitarists, that’s my 2nd oldest bro’s fave genre to listen to, while my oldest bro, is the Country music enthusiastic moreso, and I’m the oddball of liking an eclectic mix of stuff….????

Hi Jacki, like you my brothers helped to diversify my music experience and taste from early on. He had so many vinyls I got to experience from the Beatles Blue and Red Album to Hendrix to Pink Floyd to Rolling Stones and many others.
You have a pretty diversified taste in music there from Kiss to Jeff Healey. I got into a little Kiss too, was in my early 20s got into the heavy metal stuff for a while. It was that instrumental hypnotic stuff that really hooked me. Found it soothing to the soul. -
This afternoon going through these MLT guitar sounds, I got kind of zoned out on the music. Here are a few more with such soothing guitar work and vocals. This worked out into a wonderful play list too.
-
The beautiful harmonies and guitar work, heartfelt lyrics, such inspiring song writing. Fills me with longing, passion, and joy every time. Music at it’s best.

Such expressive guitar playing and singing pulls at the heart strings with every note.-
Thanks Jung, this is now my new favorite Duo Session. This is a perfect sample of how Lisa and Mona compliment each other so well. I love both guitars on this. Mona’s perfect rhythm sets the stage for Lisa’s riffs while they create that MonaLisa harmony we all love. Another timeless masterpiece.
I can see a time where if anyone released an album with a fruity name,
the question will be,”Is it as good as ?????”JP
