We need our guitar heroes, thank God for Mona and Lisa

Hi JP, yeah well said! Orange is such a brilliant artistic album, so much more than just a collection of songs, with it’s thematic bridge across the whole album, and all the songs on it having a unity. The first time I heard the leading track “The Future”, I knew there was something very special going on in the album. It’s the kind of artistic album making of the likes of the Beatles, Beach Boys, Who, Pink Floyd, Supertramp etc…As Brian Wilson said of the Beatles Rubber Soul album that blew his mind the first time he heard it, “every song comes from the same place”, referring to that unity like they belong together.
Was watching the “Stuck In the Middle With You” Duo Session video, and what I love about it is the expression and feeling you can see Mona and Lisa put into the song as they sing and play their guitars. In addition to the top notch country lead vocals Mona did, I love seeing Lisa’s left hand fingers dancing on the fret board as she stretches those guitar strings so masterfully getting such expressive sounds. You can see her shift her head and guitar slightly at one point as she seemingly rings out another expressive run of guitar notes that you can feel! It’s musicianship on another level that you see only real masters on the guitar do like Hendrix and Emmanuel, with the feelings and emotions they squeeze out of the instrument. Another MLT guitar hero moment.

How about Lisa’s guitar work on Silent Night off the Christmas album?? My goodness she does such a wonderful job and very moving. Can’t not have a shout out to Mona on her lead guitar work on She’s a woman , and Did you ever have to make up your mind? Wow how fourtunite we are to witness such talent from these ladies?

Bill, good point the acoustic guitar work on Silent Night is incredible. I heard Silent Night so much over the years it lost it’s luster, but MLT’s version brought that song back to the forefront of favourite Christmas songs again. The only bad thing about Christmas, is it’s a Christmas album, but I want to listen to it all year round. Do you think they would think strange of me if I play “Winter Wonderland” or “Santa Baby” in July really loud with the windows rolled down in the car? Listening to “All I Want Christmas To Be” and it’s heavenly. “Walking In The Air”, “Peace On Earth/Little Drummer Boy”, “Wonderful Christmas Time”, can’t stop when these come on. It feels like Christmas all over again! 🙂

This one is oh so beautiful on so many levels. Mona’s rhythm guitar work is brilliant, and Lisa’s superb bass skills really shine. And such wonderful rich expressive lead vocals from Lisa! It’s all so stunning.

let us not forget Johnny B Good! Man Lisa tears it up and hope she did not burn her fingers !!! I put her up against the best Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood, Eric Claption, Glenn Campbell, Steve Miller, Chet Akins, John and George ( god bless them ) Jimi Hendrix…etc…

Hi Bill, I think in the spirit of Johnny B Good, and the realm of Wipe Out, and throw in some harmonies, and add little June sunshine, you get the making of a lot of Fun Fun Fun! I think this could be a really fun one for MLT to carve their Gretsch and Rickenbacker into with some stellar signature harmonies.
