Hi Antonio, We uploaded the episode to a website called DailyMotion because YouTube didn’t like us using too much of one of the original audio clips. Legally speaking, we would have been allowed to do that but we didn’t want to go through the hassle of fighting the dispute or cutting out Lennon’s “Brrright”. We’ll try uploading the next episode straight to YouTube again.
    Stay groovy,
    Lisa

Last year I created a slideshow of my mom to the music of Let It Be, given Paul McCartney’s inspiration of that song came from a dream he had of his mother,  to share with the family on Youtube.  Youtube blocked it for copyright violation.  I submitted an appeal to Youtube stating the MP3 music file I was using was a valid one I purchased and therefore I had a right to use it for a private unlisted video for the family only, but Youtube would not release my video.  I ended up finding an alternate version of Let It Be on Youtube the Beatles did, recorded the audio with my voice recorder and used it in my slideshow video and it worked.  Sound quality wasn’t great, but it was better than nothing.  What a hassle!  Youtube is so rigid with it’s copyright protection policy it will block everything, even if you are not legally violating copyright.

Yeah there’s a number of videos on YouTube about this. Rick Beato being one.

It’s not YouTube that blocks the videos, it’s management companies and copyright owners who submit infringements to YouTube.

Amongst the blockers are the Beatles, Queen, Guns n Roses and The Eagles.

Don Henley told a recent inquiry into this issue that he has 60, yes 60, people who sit on a computer all day blocking Eagles music on social media platforms.

I can understand wanting to block entire songs, but blocking a small snippet of a song is a bit over the top I reckon.

What I’m not sure about is that covers seem to be OK. MLT have Hotel California and a bunch of Beatles covers on YouTube for example. I’m assuming those videos have been demonitised?

Youtube is getting really nasty with their censorship the past year or so. A lot of people (youtube video creators) are mad about it. MLT should make sure they let people know about the other video sites they publish on so we don’t miss it. Sometimes we might miss a site in our internet travels.

I would think here at the club is the best place to catch all MLT stuff but not every fan is here.

    Groove on!
