When the Blues Harp and Ukelele come out!
Whenever Mona brings out her blues harp or Lisa has her ukelele in hand in the Duo Sessions, what a treat! Their guitar work is absolutely superb, but the fact they can augment the joy with the blues harp and ukelele as well when they choose to mix things up, is so wonderful!  These instruments make the song so happy and bright when they use them, like in Pretty Flamingo, It Aint Me Babe, Tonight You Belong To Me, and She’s Leaving Home. Love that team MLT are so multi-talented and together can cover such a variety of instruments; cello, flute, drums, piano, keyboard, synth, dulcimer, saxophone etc…much like the Beatles did.

Variety is indeed the spice in a musician’s life, a smorgasbord of gifted sorts, they are forms of poetry, each bringing their own verse to add, but once all is done, the whole poem is complete, and tasty to the music tastebuds in our ears…. these two instruments, in particular have that instantaneous vibe that transforms one’s emotions right off the get go, and how they are played in terms of style and tempo, technique, matters most in the way the music from the musician is conveyed to express …

So true Jacki! Lisa said similar of the Uke.
But I like how it’s such a versatile instrument that (especially if paired with a guitar) can really transform a song and give it a brighter, happier feel.
Mona’s lead in with the harmonica in “Pink Flamingo” for example transformed that song right from the get go giving it that brighter, happier feel.
