I came across some billboard top 10 hits on youtube today and I notice there is very little musicianship.  It’s mostly vocals and backing keyboard synthesized sounds, and drumming also probably synthesized from a keyboard.  Only one or two songs had a faint acoustic guitar sound in the background.  Unfortunately what is popular today is techno pop, and no musicianship at all!  In contrast if we look at MLT Orange, now that is real music, real musicianship, real song writing, real guitar work, real talent!

I found this interesting video by Rick Beato which reinforces my sentiment.  The last guitar heroes are from decades ago.  Fortunately for us all we have our guitar and music heroes in Mona and Lisa Wagner!  May their music explode across the globe, as the music world is in desperate need of being brought back to life!

Totally agree with you Jung on today’s popular lack of musical talent letting technology do it all for them with very little effort and skill. MonaLisa Twins are the truly real guitar ? heroes who put their heart and soul into what they do best creating, playing and entertaining real music fans. MLT true true music artists.

Indeed Robert.  It seems the charts these days are littered with entertainers, not musical artists, with very little talent.  Someone writes the songs for them, or they create something using a cookie cutter approach borrowing the same “wah wah” sound regurgitated over and over again for the past 20 years, and they use some fancy synthesizer to create a tune and they sing along, often it’s not even singing, just talking and trying to let it rhyme to the beat.  Some of them learn some fancy dance moves and they are superstars.  There is no musical talent nor creativity there.

Spot on Jung and they think they are superstars as well who couldn’t compete with true musicians.

Songs like Club 27, Sweet Lorraine, Walking In The Air, Nothing Is In Vain are just examples of songs with superb guitar hero work and arrangements, with top notch lead vocals and magnificent harmonies.

    More from our guitar heroes:

Was great to see MLT impress the heck out of everyone at the recent Beatleweek Cavern Club festival with this inspired playing.

Ray Davies must have been impressed with the BAM3 performance of his “You Really Got Me” and “Tired of Waiting For You” performance by Mona and Lisa to request them to do “Lola” for it’s 50 years celebration.

With the Beatles it was diversity, superb musicianship, singing and those magic harmonies.  MLT possess all that too!

    Jung and Robert,

Wow my feelings the same. I do not see any talent today that can stack up to Mona and Lisa. For example, Jung you posted For what it worth from the Club , that alone tells anyone that these ladies can rock the roof off, what a great combination, Mona pushing the vocals and Lisa tearing it up on Lead Guitar, and the same with Revolution, oh and how about Mona on The Last Time? Man if that does not tell you how talented these ladies are , I don’t know what to say. Also the Orange Album is a masterpiece in my book. Great drumming, great Guitar work, amazing singing, songwriting…etc….and the way the songs line up from the first track to Still a friend of mine is absolutely perfect, and with the song as the final track? It leaves you wanting more. I love that album, and as I said before…just love Count on Me. But in terms of talent of guitar? They both do a great job. I have mentioned before I am hoping the big Names like Eric Clapton, Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards etc know about these ladies. My day is not complete unless I hear The MLT !

    Bill,

With you on all you’ve said there and agree Orange is most definitely a masterpiece by the extremely talented MonaLisa Twins!

Bill, yes on the Stones songs Last Time and both versions of Paint It Black, Mona and Lisa does these songs magnificent justice.  The Last Time is awesome to make any Stones fan proud, and in Paint It Black they express the mysterious mood of the song so perfectly with their brilliant singing.  Hear both of their superb vocals on this, Lisa’s lead vocals and Mona’s harmony and humming pull you right into the mood of the song, they both get so into it singing, and Lisa leads off with such an awesome guitar riff from the start and throughout.  Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards should see them, they’d be very proud and impressed to see their song so wonderfully honored.

I’m echoing all your sentiments…it is indeed rare nowadays  to come across legit real musicians anymore…in my mind, anything pre 2000 is old school and had value, not like the vast majority  in today’s  music lansdscape… no real sense/purpose.. Vince Gill, Reba, April Verch, Glass Tiger are among the rare few in my books who can still show em how it’s  done with real genuineness…. Team MLT is the refreshing breath of common sense, originality, creative reckoning that thanks in part to them, the resurrection of what true musicianship is about that was somewhat lost along the way but now found…kudos to Team MLT and the  rare few who are putting pride in their creative craft of musicianship???

Most eloquently stated Jacki!  You hit the nail on the head.
