It has been mentioned that when deciding lead vocals in a recording, you both sing the song and then decide who did it “best”.  Do you ever do that to decide who plays which guitar part?  In particular, could you have switched guitars on “Wish You Were here”  and sounded just about as good?  Or did you both pick the parts you learned to play in the video without even considering the alternative?

    Hi Lynn!

Lisa is the better lead guitar player, and while I theoretically could have learned all the solo guitar parts, it would have taken me much longer and would have never sounded that good 🙂 I’ve always focused more on rhythm guitar (and started off with drums) so we can play together. So in the case of guitars, it has less to do with taste and more to do with skill whereas when it comes to our vocals, “skill” doesn’t play that much into it.

Hope that makes sense and thanks for the question ♥

Thank you, Mona.  I have to admit I sort of thought this might be the answer, but I’ve seen a couple a videos with you on the lead guitar, so it made me wonder.   Something you said reminds me of another question I want to ask sometime.
