I always find it interesting to see what other people like yourselves like besides your chose profession.  So here’s a few questions for both of you.

    1. What kind of books do you like to read?  Fiction or Non-Fiction?  Favorite author and genre.

    2. What kind of movies do you enjoy watching?  Preferred genre?  Favorite movie?

    3. If you knew nothing about music and had no interest in it other than maybe listening, what do you think you’d be doing instead?

    Now I’ll share mine:

    1. Fiction and Biographies.  Genre: Detective and legal.  Authors: Michael Crichton, Clive Cussler, John Grisham, Jodi Picoult, Stephen King, and James Patterson.  Favorite book: Probably Raise the Titanic, 11/22/63, and The Time Machine.

    2. Mostly action and those with awesome special effects.  I love the Jurrasic Park series but probably my all time favorite is Shawshank Redemption based on how many times I’ve watched it.

    3. Either a sportscaster/journalist or an author.  I love writing and have what some would call a crazy imagination.

PS: Glad you chose music.  I love you guys and what you do.  You redefine awesome.

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for the questions and for posting your answers along with them!

I read or watch movies nowhere near as much as I used to when I was younger, as I never find or take the time to do either. Ever since I’ve found podcasts I pretty much get all my “entertainment” of that kind from audio alone, so it mostly replaced both books and movies for me.

I’ll still try to answer your questions as accurately as possible!

    1. What kind of books do you like to read?  Fiction or Non-Fiction? Favorite author and genre.
Our bookshelf is pretty much only filled with biographies (lots of Beatles books and various musicians) and thick, long science-fiction/fantasy based novels with the occasional thriller and some other odd ones like books by Carlos Ruiz Zafón which I love. I don’t read enough to have a qualified opinion on different authors and their legacies but the classics like Stephen King or James Patterson I’ve never had a bad read with.
Generally (and I think I’m speaking for Lisa here as well) I prefer longer, elaborate books that create a whole world and complex people with a variety of relationships over shorter books that are just based on a single story line.

    2. What kind of movies do you enjoy watching?  Preferred genre? Favorite movie?
With the roughly 3 movies I watch a year these days, I again find it hard to answer that question in a meaningful way. Maybe one day I’ll get around to catch up on the long list of movie classics I should have seen but I usually gravitate towards interesting, character based movies, comedies or documentaries and again – fantasy / science fiction always peaks my interest (if we’re talking TV series I love Game Of Thrones).

    3. If you knew nothing about music and had no interest in it other than maybe listening, what do you think you’d be doing instead?

I’ve been sitting here for several minutes trying to figure out a realistic answer to this question. It’s hard to imagine not having an interest in something your whole life is based on but I appreciate the brain exercise!

My first instinct was to say “probably still something in the creative entertainment world” but the more I thought about it the more I realised that that’s highly unlikely. I love the way we do things with this band, because the approach we have is often deliberately not aligned with many of the regular sides of the “entertainment business”. Without that aspect, I don’t think I’d be drawn much to the regular entertainment world.

Maybe I would choose to work with animals & people or find a way to use my creativity and time to do something beneficial in the social sector? It’s really a tricky question and not something I have a clear answer to but I couldn’t imagine doing something for a living that wasn’t in some way meaningful, beneficial for society, social and creative. Thankfully I feel music ticks all of those boxes! 😉

Hope you’re having a good weekend!

Touché Mona! The MLT definitely tick all those boxes for us. I’m sure glad you have chosen the path you and your equally beautiful sister have as society is so much better for the positive and beautiful vision you have brought to life for us. I look forward to your next contributions.

If as Buddhists believe, I am reincarnated as another person or animal, your family pet would be a perfect reward for my good works in this life!

Hey Mona and Lisa, you are both so eloquent in your written correspondence, I think you would both make great writers too in whatever discipline you wanted to write in.  Your detailed written correspondence we’ve all witnessed here in the last few months really impress.   Perhaps it’s just an extension of your music making talent to be able to express yourselves so wonderfully.  Just another in a multitude of talents you ladies possess in abundance.

I hope you don’t get too caught up in the “Snowmageddon” gripping the UK this week.   In Canada the “Polar vortex” has us in a deep freeze, except in the balmy pacific northwest where I am where it is still 7C today.  🙂

Well Jung, in contrast, Australia’s  just had its hottest January on record. Adelaide has hit a sweltering 46.6 degrees Celsius, surpassing the previous record set in Melbourne a decade ago to officially become the hottest capital in the country. In the north of my state, they are experiencing ‘once in 100 year’ floods! Fortunately my home city of Brisbane has experienced a reasonable summer with maximum temperatures normally ranging between 28 and 33 Celsius, with an occasional spike around 35/36. Yes, we could certainly do with some of your snow and sleet here! We could also do with some rain too as that is not reasonably distributed in my country. While we have had tropical flooding in the north, much of the country has been drought affected for a decade and desalination plants down south have had to be switched on for the first time in years!

I know I have strayed well off topic here but maybe that’s the Mona affect!

Howard, I couldn’t imagine what 46.6 C must be like.  I experienced 40 in Palm Springs CA once, and the golf courses offered free golfing.   28 to 33 in your neck of the woods sound nice.  Anyway I spoke too soon, as forecast is for 2 to 4 cm of snow on Sunday in Vancouver, first snow fall of the winter.  I think it will be time to chill out with some tea and MLT Jukebox.  🙂
