Close To You
Did you know there were times in my life
When I thought I was close to you
Growing up with a boy by my side as a partner in crime
What a time
And we both didn’t know that one day
We’d be saying goodbye
Nothing ever lasts forever
My oh my
I remember the times that we played
In the neighbourhood close to you
And that promise you gave me that warm summer night in July
Time goes by
And they’re saying that you have been
Growing up much more than I
Nothing ever lasts forever
My oh my
Tell me why
Does this make me feel so sad and lonely
When I
Never thought you could be the one and only
Goodbye past
Is it true that the good things don’t last
Now you tell me there’s somebody else
In your life that is close to you
And I desperately try to find something that I could reply
I could cry
But there’s one thing I have to keep
Telling myself to get by
Nothing ever lasts forever
My oh my
Tell me why
Does this make me feel so sad and lonely
When I
Never thought you could be the one and only
Goodbye past
Is it true that the good things don’t last
As the shadows grow longer
My heartache gets stronger
And maybe it’s time to move on
But it’s hard to ignore
What has happened before
And I cannot forget
All the times I was close to you
Tell me why
Does this make me feel so sad and lonely
When I
Never thought you could be the one and only
Goodbye past
Is it true that the good things don’t last
Is it true that the good times have passed

This is a very well written song. I think most people that have ever walked the Earth have experienced the feelings expressed in this song. It takes some talent to write the words down in a song so as to capture those feelings. Beautiful melody also. Thank you.
You girls were born out of time! Great 60’s style song.

I get happy. You are really good song writers and I truly respect your
fathers talent as a producer and musician. He brought you both up right with not
only Music in your hearts but you are Ladies, funny and talented to the max.
I respect you both tremendously. Stay Groovy!
Is this an original or who wrote this song?
Love it .
Hi Amanda! Yes, it’s an original song we first released on our album “Orange“. Glad you like it ♥
Thoroughly enjoyed it – came across it by accident on Facebook – took me days to find it again 🙂
fantanstic, could have easily been a Lennon McCartney composition…!
It IS original, and let me know if you find out who the lyricist is. I presume lyrics are a collaboration by father and daughters. Soo much talent!!!
