Sweet Lorraine – Lyrics

Sweet Lorraine

His pretty blues eyes
Make her heart melt like ice
She is keen
And looking her best

Sure of success
She is spinning her dress
Yet it seems
He’s still unimpressed

Somebody else caught his attention
She’s feeling sick with apprehension
How can she go on like this
She would die for a kiss

She watches them dance
Getting lost in romance
What a pain
The love in his eyes

She can’t understand
Why he’s holding her hand
What a shame
And how very unwise

What started off as joy and laughter
May well turn into a disaster
She won’t let it go on like this
She would kill for a kiss

Oh, sweet Lorraine
A pretty nice girl who follows her destiny
She’s not to blame
Cause love is such a tricky game

She’s ready to play
In the dirtiest way
As the moon
Shines bright over head

With no one in sight
A nice dress lily-white
All too soon
Turns into red

And as the night is growing older
She’s got him crying on her shoulder
He needs a distraction from this
So she gives him a kiss

Oh, sweet Lorraine
A pretty nice girl who follows her destiny
She’s not to blame
Cause love is such a tricky game

You hear the children’s choir singing
As the wedding bells are ringing
Her heart, it is bursting with bliss
Now it’s sealed with a kiss

Oh, sweet Lorraine
A pretty nice girl who follows her destiny
She’s not to blame
Cause love is such a pity

Oh, sweet Lorraine
A pretty nice girl with a touch of insanity
She’s not to blame
Cause love is such a pity
Love is such a tricky
Love is such a deadly game

  1. I have listened to Sweet Lorraine duo session version a lot because I love the melody, the lyrics and watching you play!🎸🎤 My favorite line is “She would kill for a kiss”.

  2. Sweet Lorraine and Maxwell Edison, what a couple they would make! This is so very dark and so very well done

  3. The other day while I was taking a long walk, I started singing Sweet Lorraine.
I don’t know why, it just popped into my head. I was trying to remember the words.
After I arrived back home, the first thing I did was to play the Orange CD with that song. It is so sweet.
    Thanks Ladies,
    Bobby S.

  4. A great song with loud echoes of MacLen … 🙂
