So sad when I heard about the passing of Charlie Watts, another of the ‘greats’ has left us. Always appeared to be a gentleman, in every sense of the word.

[Sorry to any German members, but there isn’t much else for us to cheer about at the moment, except of course Mona & Lisa !!]

Member03/03/2021 at 18:57 in reply to: Is it sacrilege to like a cover more than the classic original?Hi Jung, No, its not sacrilege, when the cover is done with respect to the original, or when it’s simply better. I’ll give you an example: Aled Jones’ Walking Thru The Air was – to me at least – B#####y awful. It used to turn my stomach, all that schoolboy soprano stuff. Yet, Mona & Lisa re-invented the song on their recent Christmas CD, gave it a rock & roll beat and I just couldn’t stop playing it, especially through my TV via You Tube. I still play it now & then, even here in March, its that good. So no, when a song is covered well, with respect, it is always good. {I always preferred Venga Boys’ We’re Going to Eivissa’ to Typically Tropical’s ‘Barbados’ too}. Most, if not all, of Mona & Lisa’s covers are as good as, if not better than, the original, although could I suggest, respectfully, that their version of Wonderful Christmas Time, was perhaps not their finest hour. {Sorry, guys} Hope this answers your question.

Hi Jacki Sorry, I will go and look now; I’ve been a bit hectic last couple of days, and have got a bit behind with ‘admin’.

Member25/02/2021 at 13:17 in reply to: If MLT visited your city, where would you take them !?Hi Folks, If I were the Team MLT Tour Guide here in Shrewsbury (UK), I would start by taking Mona & Lisa round the untouched parts of the town, including the Quarry (our Town Park), and then we could hop onboard the Sabrina Boat Trip along the River Severn, as it winds its way through the Town. After we have ambled through some of Shrewsbury’s back streets and discovered the little pubs and shops hidden there, I would load us all up into the car and we would head off along the A49 down into South Shropshire, to visit the beautiful little towns along the road, like Church Stretton, Craven Arms and Ludlow, stopping for a slap-up meal in a Michelin-starred restaurant in Ludlow, before the drive back north to Shrewsbury. If they are interested in History, there would be Ironbridge and the Severn Gorge, which claims to be the Birthplace of the Industrial Revolution. So many beautiful places to visit in Shropshire.

Hi Mona Many Thanks for the signed copy of the Live Album which I received thru the post the other day – I wasn’t expecting this and it showed what genuinely lovely people you & Lisa are, beautiful in both appearance and soul!! As I said I would, I have just re-ordered my original CD’s for MLT Club copies, and will donate my copies to my local Severn Hospice Shop, as & when it re-opens post-lockdown, as like all charities they need all the money they can get at the moment. My late wife Anne passed away in the Hospice in Shrewsbury in April 2016, and as I know she would have loved your music ( a real 60s nut, she was!) it seems kind of appropriate to try to generate funds this way, in her name. Once again, look after yourselves and each other and please Stay Safe.

Hi Lisa, very sorry for not replying to you sooner – very rude of me, I hope you can forgive me! I could say, I’ve been busy at work [which is true], but that’s no excuse. But you’re right aboiut the video, life shouldn’t be taken too seriously, I think, certainly not at my age!! BTW, Mona looks as though she is carrying all the worries of the world on her pretty shoulders, whilst you look much more relaxed. Oh, and nice to see the clip of the B29 taking off, always an impressive looking aircraft, despite its unfortunate ‘Nuclear Bomb’ connection. Anyway, look after yourself and everyone at Team MLT, and bye for now. Andy.

Hi Mona, and thanks for your reply to my post. Great to hear from you. I’m looking forward to hearing Duo Vol 2 next year, but also can’t wait till this Friday when I can pre-order your new live CD. By the way, If I were you, I wouldn’t be surprised if I get a load of new fans [and MLT Club members] in the Shrewsbury area soon, as I am telling all my friends about this super cool [ and can I say, gorgeous] new band I’ve found, the Mona Lisa Twins. Yes, I’m spreading your word all round Shrewsbury. They all say they will go & check you out, so look out…..! Any way, I’ll let you go now, so look after yourself, and Lisa, and the rest of Team MLT, and Stay Safe. Bye.

Thanks Lisa, great of you to take the time to reply to my post. Glad you enjoyed yourselves, and look forward to seeing more videos in the future. Look after yourself and Mona, and Stay Safe.

Darrell, that was brilliant!!! Love it.

Hi Tim, Reading your reply above made me think – eye patches seemed to be ‘all the rage’ in the 70s; Jeff Lynn wore one on the video for 10538 Overture, and I’m sure Bryan Ferry wore one on one of his hits, although I can’t remember which one. Oh, and of course the lead singer of Doctor Hook [Dennis Lecorrier?] wore one as well. I’m sure there were others.

Member03/03/2021 at 19:12 in reply to: Is it sacrilege to like a cover more than the classic original?Hi JP, I’m the same. Whenever I play Mona & Lisa’s cover of Imagine, I keep ‘hearing’ the drums come in after the first verse [A La John Lennon] even though MLT don’t have any. I guess its’ what you’re used to.
