Jacki,
Hello, showing my age here, and feel dumb, but where do I find your message? Where is the connection ? Is it a part of this spot? Again sorry I feel so dumb….. -
Great Post, In Pittsburgh Pa I think Heinz Hall would be a perfect fit for the twins. I am guessing close to 600? Not 100% sure but would be great if they did a two or three day show there. Our Pittsburgh Sympathy Orchestra play there so the sound is awesome and to me? That would be a dream come true for me, and Jung, I agree maybe our Football Stadium where our Pittsburgh Steelers play, Heinz Field would be so cool. 68,000 Plus. I saw the Rolling Stones there back in 2015 and it was a great show and the sound again is awesome. I can just hear the Mona Lisa twins now with Drive My Car as the opener…Go Mona and Lisa ……!!!!!

Member03/03/2021 at 16:59 in reply to: Is it sacrilege to like a cover more than the classic original?A bit late here, sorry but I Agree about Bob Dylan’s voice. To me, 2 songs he sounds ok, Like a Rolling Stone and Lay Lady Lay and the others? Well his voice is a bit tough to listen to but what a hero in my book with his song writing. So to dig a bit deeper on liking Mona and Lisa’s versions of cover songs and in some cases better than the original? Here’s my input , when the original first came out? I remember hearing and being so excited and loving it. Example would be ( my goodness so many to choose from ) Lola. My goodness I went nuts back in 1970 hearing it for the first time, and love it , just love it, but here we are and Mona and Lisa bring it back after 50 years and I have the same excitement and love all over again, which tells me they make this song their own. Kinks own it hands down and of course the original which will be never taken away, but for Mona and Lisa to re due this song and make it their own? Wow that proves again to all of us that they are in a class of very and I mean very few people who can cover a song. Elvis is in that small group that covers songs, You lost the loving feeling from 1970. Yes Rightuous Brothers did this great song and Elvis took it to another level. So I guess there is a fine line with the phrase better than the original, i guess a personal preference and how it is being viewed at a certain time in ones life.

Thomas great post my friend! I remember asking the twins if they had any songs on the shelf that is not done or passed over and Lisa answered saying yes and maybe some of these songs are on that shelf? i Think Jim Croche and Helen Reeday are a couple of artists I feel the twins can cover and cover well. I think they would cover Bridge Over Troubled Waters with perfect harmony in my book .

I feel it is a perfect choice for you both. In the early video’s with Mona with her short blond and Lisa with the long Red hair to me makes it perfect. Of course I can imagine Lisa has a bit of time to wash and dry with her hair so long.

Great Post. I agree Mona and Lisa do such a good job covering songs, in some cases? I feel is better than the original. I know some may disagree with me and that is ok. I love their covers, and to this point? No one but no one can cover the Beatles that is now Mona and Lisa. Sanfranciso is a perfect example, Scott did a wonderful job on this and I still love his version and Mona and Lisa took it to another level for me. As you know I love the Stones and The Last Time is a classic and the Mona Lisa Twins took it to another level again for me and I have not looked back. So no shame in loving a classic cover, to me it just shows the power of our music and it still stands today in 2021. -
Well put Jung,
I am blown away on how good Mona and Lisa are with leads on songs. She’s a woman stands out to me, wow Mona does a great job in the middle of the song and then at the end when they sing She’s a woman, both Lisa and Mona tear it up with leads going back and forth, my goodness I love listening to it. The same with Kansas City, and if you listen close you can hear Lisa say ” Alright” just when she goes into a lead. Jung I put this album up there with great live Albums such as Get Yer Ya Ya’a out by the Stones, Wings over America with Sir Paul. This album makes you feel so good and Mona and Lisa love what they do and they are not just there to play they are there are there to show their love for their craft and just 2 beautiful voices doing the music we love. -
Thank you everyone for your warm wishes for our little Maddie! And thanks to Mona and Lisa for the sweet Happy Birthday Message they sent to Maddie! We have a small get together today ( thanks to Covid ) and Maddie is already up and gearing up for her party. And I will have Mona and Lisa music on in the back ground, what better way to celebrate right?

Aw thank you Jacki! She is our little angel on earth. I will pass along your wishes to her and thank you so much for the kind words.

I agree and Jacki and Jung and members
This song is a simple song in a way but again the love and sprit that Mona and Lisa have with their talent of music takes it to another level and this current lock down we are all in? Agree Jung, Slice of heaven to hear this song done so well.
