    Jung,

I don’t mean to hijack the thread, but I just found someone on Twitter giving love to the Twins, and I shared it back.

I may have some overlap of issues that I’m seeing with what’s posted above.

I have 3 issues with the site to report, please.

    1. I no longer get Notifications for Upvotes. It had been working previously on the web, but, for example, I got 2 Upvotes in the last week for a comment I made regarding the Alone video, but they don’t show in Notifications. I don’t think I’ve had any Notifs for Upvotes at all for at least a month. Although I’ve seen Notifs for Upvotes before on the web, there are none showing now, not in Read or Unread. The only Notifs I see now are for Replies that have been Read. I also just checked my email, and it doesn’t look like I’ve ever received Upvote Notifs via email. I do see some errors in Dev Tools; see screenshots below.

    2. When I click on the bell icon to look at Notifications, there is no Settings button showing on the page, for either Read or Unread. I have tried this with all browsers that I have, Chrome, Brave, Firefox, and Edge on Windows, and on Android I checked Chrome, and the issue is the same for all of them. I am able to see Notifications settings by clicking on my Name > Account Settings > Notifications Settings, and all those boxes for both Web and Email are checked. I see OneSignalSDKWorker.js blocked when I look at Dev Tools.

    3. I am not able to start a Discussion thread. When I click on the New Discussion button, the screen greys out. If I can provide any more information, please let me know. Thanks for your help.

Always liked “I’m not in Love”. Of course, I wasn’t in love with it…

Interesting how they tell you how they split the atom to produce it. And show this pic of a Moog that’s looking a bit different from the ones I remember in the ’70s. I recall Minimoogs from that era. This is serious patch cords, what I think of as more like ’60s stuff. Idk, I didn’t own either one at the time, but friends of mine did.

The keyboard I bought 10 years ago came with a patch that sounds an awful lot like that wall of sound mix of vocals that they used. I guess that’s paying homage to what they did.

So props to them for finding a way to do what they needed for the song in the mid ’70s.

  • I’m a bit upwind of you Jacki, they had tornado watches here. Don’t recall any were sighted.

Glad to hear you’re okay. Take care.

Yes, that’s the cover I was referring to. Of course what you said about how you discover music can affect perception is very true. Music is not just a controlled experiment. I didn’t even know Crowded House wrote that song until maybe 10 years after I first heard the cover of it.

Reminds me, and this whole thread reminds me, of what a friend of mine used to say. “The only bad music is no music”. A lot of truth to that. And there is great music done all the time. Music is one of the great things uniting all of us. Thanks.

That’s a great song. Huge for Crowded House, but also big for Sixpence None the Richer. I heard their cover of if on the Smallville tv show and looked it up. I think I like SNTR’s version even better than the original, but they’re both great.

I love Nothing is in Vain too.

I am familiar with the BTS vid for Nothing is in Vain. I own a DVD player, but I think I only own one DVD. Fortunately, I can use that DVD to watch that BTS vid any time I want. Yes!

But I had never seen the Songbird BTS video until just now. I just watched it. Thanks for mentioning it. It’s great. I love those BTS videos, they definitely feed my interest in learning how things are done, plus at the same time, my interest in all things MLT.

I always feel like I’m on top of the world too when I’m listening to Lisa and Mona.

Johnnypee, since you asked about the next video,

Janitor Joe, filmed in outer space, courtesy of a hole in the roof of a school.

And I think JJ will have one of those trademark red balloons too.

I mean, I’m sitting here watching the Nothing is in Vain vid, with its cameo of the Hubble telescope, interplanetary fish, etc., so why not?

And, 3rd time’s the charm, I thought of one more thing to mention.

For the first few months after I joined the Club, I did not try to start a new thread in the Forum. You know, that old terra incognita thing.

But then I tried and found that I am not able to start a new thread; the page just greys out. I reported this not long ago in the Support area and Papa Rudi replied saying he was having a developer look at issues mentioned in that thread.

Maybe that slowed recent participation rates too? Idk.

Okay, if I didn’t put you to sleep with that last post, here are a few more thoughts.

You’ve probably heard of the Pareto rule, aka the 80/20 rule. Below is a Wikipedia entry talking about how that might apply to the web. And for the web, the # being offered is that 1% of users on a web message board produce content, 99% are lurkers. Or thereabouts. Obviously it varies by board.

One thing that occurs to me, which maybe you veterans could weigh in on, but during the Advent Calendar days, I’m guessing the participation rate seriously jumps. I know I’ll be there daily.

I also have no doubt it jumps on my favorite day of the week, too — Friday. This site is about Twins.

Jung, when you say there are Club members who participate in the Intergalactic Club but not much here, do you have an idea of how many people that is? I saw that club a while back on Facebook, but never checked it out. I’m also kind of wondering if you mean actively posting there and not here, or what you meant by that. Sorry if I am just misunderstanding you.

When I joined in February, one thing I noticed early on was that I could see how many members there were, and at that time, there were 699, iirc. So it seems like membership here is pretty steady in the last 6 months. The other thing I checked back then, was how many of those 699 had been active in the past month. I looked at that since membership is month to month.

    The answer was 54%.

I just checked again, and in the past month, there are 55% active here.

Stability is a good thing, sometimes. And in this case I suspect it is.

Or, maybe Mona, Lisa and Michaela should just have birthdays every month…

  • thanks, and then I decided it was too dark so I deleted it. Hope everyone’s doing ok today.
