Have a great day Bill and Maddie. My Mom has been gone since 2015, but she is in my heart today (like everyday). As a violinist, she especially would have appreciated Lisa’s work in “In My Life” and in “Yesterday”.

Girls fastpitch is good! They chant, chant, chant, in the dugout. In comparison, our baseball players just sit there and spit seeds, except at home. Seeds are prohibited since we play on a turf field.
I am convinced that a top softball pitcher could strike out a high school baseball lineup. They would not be used to the rising pitches from 45 feet. There is one young lady on the varsity who is simply awesome. Her arm is a cannon, both pitching and overhand from third base!

Have to tell you, despite only being in the MLT Club since December, I feel like a full-fledged member. Who knew that by responding to an almost four year old thread, there would be so many updated responses!
It is nice to see the fluidness of the responses; namely how some lists have changed and updated. Also, it is great to see how some of the songs were on people’s lists and remain so after so much time.
“The Wide, Wide Land” certainly resonated with so many of you on so much more than a musical level. It shows that a meaningful song from their first solo album has stood the test of time. Think about that…Mona and Lisa were just beginning their songwriting endeavors when it came out!

Oh no…I can’t forgive myself for omitting my obvious favorite video! It has been my “go to” since I have joined the MLT Club.
Mona and Lisa’s Please Please Me video, and the song itself, is absolutely perfect! High energy, great musicianship, and Mona just belts the lyrics in her true rocker style. Her crunchy “c’mon c’mon” style makes the song so unique.
The ladies enunciate the lyrics to both their covers and originals so well, in the case of the covers often better than the original artists. It allows one to fully grasp the song.
Even when they were young (the first concert) and still perfecting English, they did this. Wonderful Tonight and Ain’t No Sunshine are two examples. Later, but not much later, Hotel California really demonstrates their enunciation skills. I could never make out the lyrics clearly (unless I was reading the lyrics) until MLTs version.

I know I am real, real late to this thread but I was going through some old discussions and just have to add mine. I can’t put them into any order…the order would always change. But at this moment in time, here are five:
– Bus Stop: The facial expressions during the solos are priceless!
– Two of Us (Duo Version): In my humble opinion, this is the signature MLT song. “And it’s quite a mess to be honest” makes me laugh.
– The Making of “I Want To Kiss You”: “There’s nothing I can’t do, there’s nothing I’m not good at, there’s nothing that I’m not the pro”…shine on, Lisa!
– If I Fell: The bow point…epic.
– Dreams: How can you not love that, a wonderful video with a bonus star Lampi Bampi.
Okay, okay…am going to add one more: Looked at my post and I cannot leave this out, hence the edit:
– That’s Life: Mona stole this video with her total look of disdain and indifference towards the television.

Holy cow Jacki!
Just going through some old MLT stuff during a free class period before my students arrive and found your recipe. It is over three years old but still is perfect.
The MonaLisa Twins will never have to “Jump Ship”, lol.
Thanks!

Bill:
Just found this and congratulations on your retirement. I am a teacher and technically have four more years to reach the “holy grail max” of State Retirement. However, if there is any sort of incentive before that, I may consider it. The environment in schools has changed so much since the Pandemic. But we do our best.
Coaching will be so much fun. I was asked to return this year as an assistant coach in our high school baseball program and it has been great. My arm is shot, fungos are a chore, but I feel like a kid again, despite the aches and pains.
Hope that you get a chance to visit Liverpool. You never know, maybe the MonaLisa Twins will be playing some live shows again once the new album is completed!
Oh yes, I have to add…retirement will give you an opportunity to attend more Pirates games!!!

All I can say is “WHAT’S TAKING THESE PEOPLE SO LONG?”
Once the new album is out, I can see the subscriber list rise exponentially.
Way to go ladies!!!

All I will say, “IT’S ABOUT STINKING TIME”.
We already know…The MonaLisa Twins rule!

Dad: “100 Years” by Five for Fighting (although he lived to almost 81)
Mom: “I’ll Always Be With You” by Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades

It is funny that you brought that up. On Friday our high school baseball team traveled to my home town to play a league game. On the bus there I was reviewing the lineup with the other coaches and then listened to “No More Worries Company” and “One More Time”. I was very confident (okay, maybe hopeful) that the kids would do well against my alma mater.
Well, it was a rough afternoon, losing 12-3. In the long run, there was some good things that came out of it, so it wasn’t so bad. The kids are here to learn. Anyway, on the way home, I had “Still a Friend of Mine” and “In It for Love” playing over and over.
It makes sense in my world, because baseball has always given me both pleasure and pain. Good games that I played were always matched with days in which I was cut from elite teams in my youth. I played to my best potential, which often was just not enough. Still, the siren song of baseball would call me back (kind of like the pretty girl in school who you would know would eventually dump you for a guy with muscles, lol).
So sad songs worked well on Friday. Baseball, you are “still a friend of mine” and I always come back because I am “in it for love (of the game)” no matter what you do!
Sounds silly, but those were the two MonaLisa Twins songs that I was listening to on the ride home. Hopefully, by the end of the season, the players will include one MLT song in their pregame rotation of music. Perhaps it will change their luck.
Oh, the power of music…

The Pirates were my team when I was little…before the birth of the Toronto Blue Jays. My Dad was from Dayton, Pa (Armstrong County) and my Mom was from Titusville (Crawford County). The first big league game that I went to was in 1976. Grandpa told us to take Route 8 from Titusville to Pittsburgh. Three hours later, after driving through Butler, Beaver County (birthplace of Joe Namath), and a bunch of other hamlets, we finally made it!

Len…Wham! Bang! Crash! Reminds me of another classic: Batman starring Adam West and Burt Ward.
As far as I am concerned, Adam West is the only Batman!
-
Jacki…Glass Tiger! Whoo Hooo! I remember them playing “I’m Still Searching” at the premiere gala opening of Toronto’s SkyDome in 1989. An epic celebration hosted by Alan Thicke and Andrea Martin.

Just signed on, and the first song that came to mind was “Do You Want To Know a Secret?” Diana, you beat me to it!
Always liked the shyness in George’s voice in this song. Well played, Mr. Harrison, well played.
Wouldn’t this be a great MonaLisa Twins cover?
