Believe me, NOBODY wants to hear me sing. I’m not all that good a guitar player either, at least not anymore. I do remember the lead parts to “And I Love Her,” so maybe I could play guitar on that and let one of the Twins sing it.

On the record, it’s actually George and Paul doing a double-tracked lead, with John just on rhythm (even though he wrote the song). Since the two leads are essentially the same, they come out OK on one guitar on live performances, such as several tribute bands have shown. John didn’t like this song (calling it a “throwaway”) but it’s always been one of my faves. It was used during the opening credits of the Beatles’ cartoon series (remember that?).

I wonder if Lisa could pull off “And Your Bird Can Sing?” Of course, she doesn’t know birds that well.

As many of you may recall, the Gretsch Country Gentleman was the guitar George played on the Beatles’ first visit to the U.S., beginning with their appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. And for those of you who don’t recall this, now you know. 🙂

I don’t rank the groups I like. There are 3 categories: Artists I don’t like, artists I like, and artists I like a lot. Some of those from that last category include Buddy Holly (with or without Crickets), Roy Orbison, the Beatles, the Hollies, the Kinks, Ricky Nelson, Linda Ronstadt, Abba, Blondie, Gene Pitney, Rolling Stones, and of course Mona Lisa Twins. My current favourite artist is Reina Del Cid, a Minnesota-based singer/songwriter who I consider to be a modern day female Bob Dylan, and her guitarist, Toni Lindgren, who can play circles around nearly everyone. I support Reina on Patreon.

Thanks for you comments, Jung. It seems that the best artists these days are those not affiliated with major record labels and who “go their own way.” MLT is a perfect example.

Toni Lindgren is in most of Reina’s videos, you must have hit on the few that don’t feature her. Check out her guitar work on Reina’s song “Medium”. For Reina’s songwriting ability, check out Hold Me Before I’m Gone Forever. Hard to believe that someone that young could write such a poignant song about the end of life. Oh well, this site is supposed to be about the Mona Lisa Twins. Didn’t mean to distract anyone from that.
