I just thought of this one. One of those rare bass-and-piccolo combos:

  • Jung, if it proves to be necessary, you could post your comment here, and one of us could copy and paste it into the video comments.

When it comes to TV theme songs, is there one with a more iconic bass riff than this?

And of course one by the Monkees. The bass was played by Chip Douglas of the Turtles, who also produced the album.

Two for one here: a great bass line, and the singer’s name is Bass.

This McCartney song is one of my sleeper favorites, largely because of how the bass line drives it:

This is a new world for me, Lynn: I never even noticed that YouTube had a filtering feature. But yes, MLT’s cover of Drive My Car has about 40% as many views as the most viewed version of the original!

Tim, that used to be possible, but MLT had to disable that capability because it was causing some sort of problem. I hope the issue gets resolved eventually. When you receive a present, you want to know whom it’s from!

Agreed, Tim. Hanky Panky, I Think We’re Alone Now, Mony Mony, Crimson and Clover, Crystal Blue Persuasion, Draggin’ the Line. Really underrated.

A couple hundred dollars, plus travel and lodging, would certainly fall within my vacation budget. It would be a twelve-hour drive for me each way, but if the show were on a Saturday evening I could be there without having to make excuses for missing work.

An extended tour of North America might not make sense logistically, given the size of the territory and the ratio of MLT fans to the total population. But just a single centrally located show should pack a medium-sized venue, and give us club members a chance to meet not only Mona and Lisa but also each other. It would be a sacred pilgrimage!
