Without cheating by using the Internet, the only one that comes to mind is Crystal Gayle’s “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue”.
I’m reminded also of a verse from a song I learned in grade school music class:
Old Joe Clark, he had a wife.
Her name was Betty Sue.
She had two great big brown eyes.
The other two were blue.

Thanks, Darryl. I went back and forth on including that, but something told me to busk for groans and eye rolls.

I’m with you there, Jung. I remember when Houston died and the TV news programs were constantly showing clips of her hitting that high note (“yoooooooooo…”) at the end of “I Will Always Love You”. And I was thinking, wait a minute, Eddie Holman did exactly the same thing at the end of “Hey There Lonely Girl”. Where are HIS plaudits?

You’re right, Howard. I do enjoy the achievement of hearing myself play… but I can’t imagine that anyone else would! At least not yet.

You’re welcome! I actually printed out the page a month ago, and I can’t tell you how many times I gave passed over the typo without seeing it.
Trust me, you don’t want to hear me play. I just started a few months ago (inspired by you), and it’s all I can do just to get all my fingers in the right place at the right time.

Having just emerged from my “turkey coma”, I would like to add my voice to the chorus of MLT thank-yous.
For decades my only contact with contemporary music has been the interstitial songs on Saturday Night Live, and invariably about ten seconds into any song I switch the channel and think, “Doesn’t anyone know how to write pop music anymore?” Finally with MLT I have an affirmative answer.

Agreed about “Wonderful Christmastime”, Jung. Paul seemed to be going through an electronic music phase then. Sometimes it clicked, as with “Goodnight Tonight”, but it just doesn’t feel right when you augment jingle bells with synthesizers.

Indeed, Howard. I’m picturing it also as a vinyl single, b/w “I Like Traffic Lights”.

Wow! I’m not one of the “young girls”, but I’ll definitely be coming to the Canyon!

I love every track on the album, but I have to say my favorite is “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. They really breathed life into that song and made it danceable!

Same here (November 4th). Like Paul I’m not complaining, but I did want to check whether my attempt to “register” had gone through.

To me, “Puff” is a metaphor for the bittersweet nature of growing up: you’re moving on to bigger and better things, but you’re leaving your (hopefully) idyllic childhood behind. The dragon is a personification (well… dragonification) of your younger self being abandoned. It just makes me sad, but in a therapeutic way, to think of it like that.
That’s a sweet story about your nephew, Jung. I’m glad you’ve been able to stay connected with him as he’s grown up. Those interactions help keep Puff from becoming lonely.
This song includes one of my best-remembered instances of misheard lyrics: as a little kid I’d sing along and go “in a land called Halloween”.

Hi, Mona.
That was it: it was in my spam folder, along with many, many club newsletters that I had no idea I was getting because I’ve never opened my spam folder!
Thank you and Lisa so much for the special groovy greeting!
