It’s certainly dropping a lot slower than it had been, Tomás, but it’s hard to say whether it’s really plateaued yet.
If I had the time, I’d make some plots of viewing rate versus time for various videos and see if there’s a standard pattern that could be used to forecast the trajectory of a given song.

I imagine one driver in making the songs of the late 50’s and early 60’s so short is that a lot of them were intended for high-energy dancing. Rock and roll, daddy-o!

I was a nerdy 1970’s kid who didn’t care for any of the contemporary music around me. The first album I ever purchased, by mail order from a TV commercial no less, was a collection of patriotic songs celebrating the American bicentennial in 1976.

The white stripes contain rumble strips: parallel grooves running perpendicular to the direction of the road. The note you hear depends on the spacing of the grooves: the closer together they are, the higher the pitch.

Christopher, I had that very Peter Pan 45 when I was a kid! That version of Puff (the only one I knew at the time) was my absolute favorite song when I was six. I even posted about it here a couple of years ago.

Okay, it’s been nearly 50 years, but I’m going to try to do this from memory:
I’m just a little black rain cloud, hovering over the honey tree.
Only a little black rain cloud. Pay no attention to little me.
Everyone knows that a rain cloud never eats honey. No, not a nip.
I’m just floating around, over the ground, wondering where I will drip.

I was going to correct you and say “turned LEFT at Greenland”, but I suppose you’d be travelling the other direction in this case.

Juergen,
There are several postings of this song on YouTube without the video; try running through those and see if any of them work.
The song is from 1986. I think it was just a reflection of generalized Cold War anxiety and not referring to anything in particular. The video mostly consists of 1950’s footage of people ducking and covering, etc.

Someone in the YouTube comments section suggested making another set of grooves for the tires on the left side to go over that would play a harmony part or countermelody.

That’s really neat, David! I never thought about factoring the natural population growth into the calculation. I just assumed everyone would spend their entire lives waiting patiently in line to shake my hand, causing growth to stagnate. But I suppose people might get bored and engage in some extracurricular activities.

Indeed, Jung, there’s nothing like astronomy to put everything on Earth in perspective.
Here’s something I thought of a few years ago to get a grasp on the concept of eight billion people: how long would it take to shake everyone’s hand? Well, an average human lifetime is about three billion seconds, so to accomplish that task you’d need to shake nearly three hands per second non-stop for your entire life! That wouldn’t be possible even if the entire world lined up single-file and walked past you with their arms extended. Maybe you could high-five them all, though…
