Nothing here yet, Michael, but I think we can chalk that up to pandemic-related delays.

I don’t often watch the live performance videos, but I have to say I was very impressed by that time they posed for a photo in the middle of a song.

Tom, Wikipedia has an article about Riu Chiu that includes the full lyrics and an English translation. Its origin is obscure, but it seems to draw from Spanish, Italian, and Catalan.

Juergen, the Monkees TV series was basically an attempt to serialize A Hard Day’s Night. It was about a hard-luck rock-and-roll group who lived together and were always trying to find a gig so that they could pay the rent. It involved a lot of slapstick, as you surmised, and usually culminated in a “romp” in which a new song was played in the background as the boys clowned around while being chased by the bad guys.
I have vague memories of seeing the show in reruns when I was very young, but I really got to know it when MTV broadcast it for several months in 1986.

Nesmith had an almost McCartney-like ability to pull simple but beautiful melodies out of the ether. This is one of his prettiest, and it wasn’t even officially released on record until 1987:

Yes, he recorded about a dozen solo albums, the first few of which are now widely considered to be pioneering work in the country rock genre. But the only two songs that made a dent in the charts at the time were “Joanne” and “Silver Moon”.

I could write a book about all the songs that I can’t stand that are often touted as great, but that would require thinking about them again after having banished them from my mind.

Member07/12/2021 at 00:45 in reply to: YouTube Milestones – Five to reach One Million soonIt’s crazy that there are such differences in the viewing stats for the two platforms, Lynn! Does Facebook have something comparable to the YouTube videos page that just tiles them out chronologically, or is there a different type of cataloging?
I’ll be looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the Facebook views.

Hi, John. Welcome to the club!
Dixon is the hometown of Ronald Reagan, isn’t it?

I’ve always felt that the strongest Monkees songs vocally were the ones where Mike and Micky were harmonizing, as in this one.
Fun fact: the backing musicians on this tour included Michael’s son Christian on guitar, and Micky’s sister Coco on vocals.

That’s one of my favorite obscure Monkees songs, Michael. I’ve always been amazed that Don Kirshner allowed such a “grown up” sound on one of their early albums.
Correction: that song was post-Kirshner.
As long as we’re talking about Monkees and candles and Christmas, how about this one?

Two episodes of the show that I can highly recommend are “The Picture Frame” (season 1) and “The Monkee’s Paw” (season 2).

Once again, Jung, you’ve unearthed some Beach Boys gold!
