Fully agree, Joe!
This one is not well known, but it became a major earworm for me when I discovered Dave Dee a few years back:

No problem, Joe. You can always start another topic, and I’ll be there with bells on.

Hey, wait a minute, Joe: you’ve changed the key word from “ring” to “bell”. What’re ya tryin’ to pull? Why, I oughta…

Don’t know how I forgot about this one:

I’ve never quite understood the premise of this song. Either she has a pencil neck, or he has incredibly fat fingers.

I guess this technically fits the category. Remember those “ring around the collar” commercials for Wisk detergent?

This was one of Neil Sedaka’s very first songs, from 1957:

Joe, it was the B-side of the Take It Away single from 1982. Take It Away was on the Tug of War album, but I don’t think this song was. I actually wasn’t even aware of it until I scanned Paul’s discography on Wikipedia.

Glad I hit the spot, Jung. That Schroeder vocal part is originally from a 1967 musical play called “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”, featuring future M*A*S*H star Gary Burghoff in the title role. I’m pretty familiar with it because my brother played Linus in my high school’s production of it. I know you’re kind of into Peanuts stuff, so you might enjoy whatever you can find from it on YouTube.

Looks like I finally have an excuse to post something from Schoolhouse Rock:

Jung, I’ve been exploring the music of the Shangri Las, and I found a recording they did called “Past, Present and Future” which is a dramatic speech read over an orchestration of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. I thought you might like to check it out.
On a related note, were you aware of this?

Yes, “Roses are Red” is my favorite Bobby Vinton song. Do you know who wrote it, Jacki? Paul Evans, who sang the “Seven Little Girls” song in that video I posted with the puppets in the back seat of the car.
-
Yeah, love me some Bobby Vinton! Although I have to say I’m much more familiar with Brian Hyland’s recording of this song. Not that there’s a huge difference, though.
