Hi Jung:
Oh, our parents knew more about us than we thought. Things that I thought I got away with my parents told me I didn’t years after the fact. They just told me they had to pick their battles with me. And after raising two girls my wife and I followed the same rule. Mike.

Yes, AGFTK is a good one…..but so is Crazy Eyes. I think I like Crazy Eyes a bit more. Actually I have all 20+ Poco albums…..so to me they are all must have. I picked the ones above for Poco because at that time Richie had left the group and it forced the other guys to step up as songwriters…..which they did well. But, when one talks about Poco, it is always which Poco do you mean???? There have been so many personnel changes over the years. Mike.

After the 1970s I don’t drink like I used to…….or do a lot of things I did in the 1970s for that matter. When I do drink, it is a two drink limit maybe once a week and my favorite is Canadian blend, e.g., Crown Royal and I have had a long term relationship. If not CR, then Canadian Mist. Mike.

FWIW……..I’m writing more instrumental melodies for the guitar since the pandemic started. I am in a habit of writing more with 7th chords, maj 7th chords and sus4 chords most recently. Soon I am going to get a stand alone microphone for the PC and plan on recording the melodies and, if the melodies sound good, I’ll share them. If the melodies of garbage, I’ll keep them to myself. I really wish I had the ability to write lyrics, though, because I could combine them with the melodies……but oh well…..playing the melodies get the emotions out. So, we’ll see. Mike.

Hi Jung;
I also received an email from Peter Asher a couple of years ago. (Yes, little old me got an email from Peter Asher. ) He said he really liked the MonaLisa Twins, too. He had played one of their songs on his Sirius-XM show on the Beatles Channel and I commented on it through email. It seems that Mr. Asher is one of those guys who answers every email sent to him. And, he told me he has been keeping an eye on the MonaLisa Twins and he likes what he hears from them. Mike.

Every time I think I am turning into too much of a guitar nut I look at Vince’s video on some of his guitars. He mentioned the flood in Nashville and he lost far more than I even have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2RJC0rtkrM

Hi Joseph;
Love “Blow Away” by George. Here’s one by Paul that is semi-solo since it is with Wings…..actually Denny got a writing credit on it, too. Mike. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDtxBe4vNFM

Looking back on it 40 to 50 some years later when we say we like McCartney or Lennon or Dylan it gets to the point where we say, “OK, which McCartney or which Lennon or which Dylan.” Their musical styles changed over time and the three did influence each other. My favorite John period is what I call his “Dylan period” which started in the Help! album and lasted through the Revolver album. I like Lennon’s other music but that time period is my favorite. With McCartney I liked when he did the R&B influenced RnR like “Long Tall Sally” but I also like his ballads too (Here, There, and Everywhere; etc.) I can’t really recall much of a Dylan influence on Paul, but maybe I just missed it…..because Lennon did “Dylan-type” music so well. For Bob……there are at least 4 Bob Dylans: The Folkie, The electric, The country music influenced Dylan, and the present. I think I like the country music influenced one. My favorite Dylan album is Blonde on Blonde with Nashville Skyline a close second. Just my 2 cents FWIW. Mike.

Hi Howard;
For me John was the best RnR bass player. Also I the SqueezeBox video was really interesting. Mike.

No specific songs or in order…..but before intermission I would load it up with their original music (Close To You, Still A Friend, Wide Wide Land, etc). Then after intermission I would load it with covers (Beatles, Starman, Lola, God Only Knows). That does not mean that before intermission would be strictly originals nor does it mean that after intermission would be strictly covers. But, that’s how I would generally set it up. Encore: Still A Friend.

Comfort Drink: Canadian Blended Whiskey. e.g. Crown Royal or Canadian Mist or Canadian Club…….but I do not over do it. Funny story and it is totally true. I was out once with my wife on one of our dates after music practice and we went to a restaurant and they asked me if I wanted a drink. I said Crown and 7 meaning Crown Royal with 7-up to make the drink tame. Well……….they gave me Crown Royal mixed with Seagrems 7 straight. I took the first sip thinking it was going to be Crown and 7-up and it really caught me by surprise…..cleared my sinuses and everything. We mentioned it to the waiter and she said she would fix me a new one free of charge…….but I saw it as a challenge and drank the whole thing. Needless to say I only needed on drink. Mike.

Well, there is a lot of George influencing Lisa. Both George and Lisa are lead guitarists and Lisa is quickly becoming one of the best lead guitarists anywhere. Also, John was always a little edgier and Mona is not quite that edgy……but she did sing lead on Sweet Lorraine and L-O-L-A. So who knows. Mike.
