I think I am forever going to request Summer Song by Chad and Jeremy. But, I guess it will never come around. Other songs (unless they have already done it): For No One, No Words for My Love (also on Band on the Run)………all I can think of right now.

Hi Jung;
One last two cents worth. For the acoustic I would be remiss if I didn’t mention again a Takmine……but for the Tak the models are really good at about the $800 range. Also, the entry level Martins $500-$600 would be very good guitar. One of my Martins was an entry level mode DX-1 and to me it sounded every bit as good as my D-35……well maybe not as good but it was dependable and had that distinctive Martin sound.
Also, one more word on the electric side……Godin guitars…..5th avenue model….costs around $900 but it is a good mellow sounding electric. It is hollow bodied and it is sound-wise along the lines of a Rick…except Ricks tend to have a smoother sound. Mike.

Ummmm……if you want to hear from an old-timer…..when joints are arthritic, playing gets a little more painful when we age. Seems due to genetics or repetitive motion or whatever, my back, hips, knees, hands, and shoulders have a bit of the arthritis going on. Over the last year I have been postponing one concession to the onset of painful things………my hips and knees are a little “iffy” now and I have recently started sitting down when playing the guitar and singing. And, I absolutely hate this because I have a hard time staying still with the music playing.
Anyway……over time I have learned how to play guitar better despite the joints hurting some and my vocals have gotten better as I have learned more about breathing techniques to hit certain notes. Mike.

Hi all;
It seemed like Paul had a “dark period” in his song writing around this time with this song, the Dangling Conversation, For Emily……, Richard Cory, I Am A Rock, Faking It, and a few others. I always make sure not to listen to that time period of S & G if I am feeling a little down. The songs on Bridge are a little brighter. Mike.

Yep and it seems like all other car colors are invisible, e.g., cars pulling out in front of us and switching lanes in front of us. Then I get to practice my vocabulary by coming up with new words or new ways of joining together already known words. Mike.

Hi Lisa;
I am not sure if you will circle back around on this question…….but I was under the impression that your Duo Jet was an Electromatic Duo Jet. Of course, I could be wrong. Please let me know if you see this. I have a few of your guitar straps and one is on my Baby Jet because I’m silly that way and the other is on my Rickenbacker….. Love all your music. Mike.

Hi Louis;
Welcome to the club. I play the mandolin, too. Also, play guitar and drums. I also have a teeny-tiny capo for the mandolin. That aside……I’m a little country and rock and roll. I am north of you a little in Sharon MA (west of Boston because if you go east of Boston, we’re talking Octopus’s Garden). Again…..welcome to the club.

Hi Howard and Jung;
Many apologies!! I guess I was hopping from topic to topic when I responded above and lost track of who was talking about the Kinks.
That aside……the Kinks are my 2nd favorite from across the pond. I like the chances they take.

Hi Howard;
The Kinks are my 2nd favorite invasion group. They did such strange and varied songs: Along with the three or so that you mentioned other songs of theirs that I really liked were: Sunny Afternoon, A Well Respected Man, and Lola. I don’t think we will ever get the true story about Lola. Some say one of the Kinks’ hangers-on bumped into Lola at a bar…..others say it was Ray who bumped into Lola. Still Lola is likely my favorite song from the Kinks because at the time it was a risky song. In the states it was only played at night and on FM stations when it was released. Mike.

I’ve noticed that sometimes when she is in the middle of a difficult lead guitar riff while playing live, she is whispering something to Mona. And I think “bleep!!! How does she do it!!!” Other times she pulls off the riff as if she is only switching from a G chord to a D chord. Really amazing. Mike

I think they could pull off Scarborough Fair/Canticle. It has inter-weaving lyrics just like God Only Knows and they did such a good job on that song. Bridge has a very challenging ending calling for many strong high vocal notes. But, if anyone can do it, it would be MLT. I could see Rudi playing the piano for the song while the Twins sing it. Mike.

Member21/01/2020 at 02:16 in reply to: “Because” would be a great song for MonaLisa TwinsWhen I saw the title of the topic I naturally thought the Beatles’ Because and was going to suggest the DC5 Because, too, since it is not very difficult. The Beatles’ Because would be very difficult to do because, as I understand it, all 4 of the guys were singing/harmonizing acapella/ But, if Mona and Lisa can coordinate God Only Knows, they could handle Because. But, MLT doing either one or both would work for me.

Hi Jung;
I don’t believe there is a single price for a good guitar. It also depends on whether you are considering an acoustic or an electric guitar and what kind of sound you want. I would say the low priced good acoustic or A/E is around $800 or $900 for, say a Takamine. A low end Martin, DX-1, is around $600 and I had one that sounded every bit as good as my more expensive D-35. A J series Gibson, though, is likely over $2000. And, well, I just don’t do Taylor’s……so no comment there. Also, Martins have a more mellow sound while Gibsons are kinda ‘tinny” sounding….it depends on your taste there.
For electric a Gretsch Jet can go as low as $600…….around $700 for a decent Strat or Tele…..Gibson’s are expensive….the SG is likely around $1500, the ES Gibson’s are over $2,000, the LPs used to be very expensive but for some reason Gibson has downgraded the more recent LPs……..but still a downgraded LP is going to cost around $1,500…..prior to this year or last LPs were approaching $3,000 and customers kinda complained. But, each of these guitars have different sounds…..Fenders are thinner sounding and Gibsons are fuller sounding. A Rick costs at least $1500 depending on model and 6 or 12 string. Ricks are very smooth sounding and you would be straining some to get it to do hard RnR like a Fender or a Gibson.
Again I don’t think there is a good, single answer to this one. It is up to the person. I had a Washburn acoustic that was around $400 and it sounded great to me…..I have others a little more expensive and they sound good, too.

To be honest for the chance of playing just one song with them I would set up all the equipment (amp, mics, drums, and all other backline equipment) carrying it in from the auto to the stage, I would tune all of their instruments, I would make sure that they would have bottles of water nearby when they were performing, and I would make sure the “green room” was stocked with whatever they wanted. Mike.

Hi Howard;
I know…..who would have thought Glen was that good. I left one off…….somewhere Stephen Stills has to be included. Mike.
