Sorry it took me so long to notice this one. I am so sorry Tomas about your Aunt Lorraine’s passing. It seems like many of us have lost someone over the last year or so.
At times music is meant to cheer us up and at times to give us solace. Sometimes the same song can do both at different times. I’m sure she was proud of her nephew and that you will always have that place in your heart for her. Mike.

Hi all;
Keep posting instruments…….Roger and I may have more because we are older and had trouble figuring out what we really wanted. It is always interesting to see what instruments other have because it lets us know a little more about you. From certain instruments you can figure out what other genres people like. For example, my Tele, White Falcon, mandy, banjo, and lap steel kinda points in the direction of a country bend. Then it comes as no surprise that some of my other favorite groups are Poco, Pure Prairie League, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Unicorn (a 1970s country rock band with an edge), Outlaws, Frank Walsh (current day country rocker in England). The Wide, Wide Land will always have a special place in my heart. My mother passed away last year, basically of Alzheimer’s, though she had a couple of strokes before passing……but that’s the way Alzheimer’s works. So, when I hear this song lately, I think of her. She had a good long life (88) and was the rock of our family. I better stop here with memories of her. Mike.

It’s surprising sometimes where a post can go!!! I started out talking about Ricks and guitar riffs and we went to No Reply (A stalker song), Norwegian Wood (Hey!! Let’s burn down a house!!), and Run For Your Life (You are dead …… hopefully only dead to me….. if you go with another guy). But, that’s one of the good things about a forum. The responses can go just about anywhere. Mike.

First 45 was Sugar Shack in 1963. The first album was Meet The Beatles in 1964. I was 10 years old when I bought the album and it cost something like $3.99 which meant I must have saved up my $1 allowance which I received every two weeks for awhile. 45s were around $1 each at the time. Anyway I still have the Meet the Beatles LP but it is not playable. Mike.

Still a little fresh. The oddest thing is that she passed away on my Dad’s birthday (he passed away in 2004) and it also happened to be their wedding anniversary. I stopped believing in coincidences a while back.

Roger;
I am so sorry. We have had several dogs over the years. When it came time to put them down, I could never go and do it. My wife has to do it because I am a big wimp. But, the dogs were in so much pain and there was no hope of recovery….so they had to be put down. Always a hard thing. Mike.

OK. Maybe later I will post a pic of the piano and keyboard. We have one upright piano and an electric keyboard. But, my wife is the piano/keyboard player of the family. She also has a couple of violins, a viola, and an upright electric cello. Also, I have a lap steel guitar to do the country part of country-rock.

Roger;
I agree about the Godin. My 5th Ave. was my “go-to” guitar for awhile. It is so versatile and has a sneaky powerful sound…….also my LP Jr. is too big for most venues we play. The White Falcon is such a sweet guitar it gives a sound that is just so pure. That one and my Rick 330 are at the top of my list for nice sounds.

Hi Jacki;
I have short, stubby fingers which are not the ideal for playing guitar. Now Lisa has long fingers and some of the stretches she makes on the fret board just amazes me. But, then that’s why she is better than me and a lot of other players. Sometimes it causes problems when trying to play certain chords…..not too many problems in picking, though. Still with the chords I have problems with on certain songs I try to use alternate ways of playing a chord. Any one chord can be played in multiple ways and at times I try to use the alternate ways or the capo to play. There’s always a way around the problem. So, I would not let that stand in your way if you really want to play. Mike.

Our light came with the house. When we bought the house, the light was already there. I don’t know much about the history of the house, but the house was build in 1984 and the light may have been picked out by the first owners. But, it is so strange that we both have this unusual light fixture. Mike.

Thanks!! Your collection is great, too!!! Our differences in the guitars we have might reflect what musical styles we play….for me it is more on the RnR and country-rock styles. Mike.
-
Just kidding!! It is just one of those things that characterize guitarists….we are always planning for the next guitar!!

Wow!! Good eyes. It is so strange we both have this unusual light fixture. Mike.

Thanks, Jung;
Speaking for myself, and maybe for Roger,………. we just might have issues…. But, then the perfect number of guitars for the guitarist is always at least one more than what we have. However, I can honestly say that I have all that I can use to play almost any of my favorite styles.…..and I’m actually looking to give away a few of them….hopefully to young players just getting started. Mike.
