Yeah, I know what you mean Jung. My mother had Alzheimer’s and the last 4 to 5 years of her life she became someone I did not know. Over the last 2 years she didn’t know who I was and it was almost a blessing when she passed. Still I wouldn’t wish that disease on anyone.

In the above response, I was attempting to highlight music that was new and different for me and molded the way I liked music. For others, I’m sure it would be other songs and moments. Mike.

I agree……..some of the musical moments that I remember as changing how I looked at music include:
1) Hearing ‘She Loves You’ for the first time. The song basically changed RnR with its strange chords and harmonies.
2) Hearing Smetana’s ‘Moldau’ for the first time. A classical piece where the music was representing the different parts of a river’s flow. The piece opened me up to classical music.
3) Hearing the Byrd’s ‘Hey Mr. Tambourine Man and The Mamas and the Papas’ Monday, Monday. I knew both songs represented a change in music at least to me.
4) Spending a summer listening to Dylan’s Blonde on Blonde and Linda Ronstadt’s first few Warner Bros. albums.
5) Getting James Taylor’s Mud Slide Slim and the Blue Horizon by mistake. It was a happy mistake that changed how I have played guitar over my whole life and made me a lifelong JT fan.
6) ‘Discovering’ Poco, Pure Prairie Leage, and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. This opened me up to the country-rock genre and led to finding out about Marshall Tucker, the Outlaws, and some pretty obscure country-rock bands as well as making a whole new set of friends called ‘Poconuts’. It also changed how I play music.
7) Finally, finding the MonaLisa Twins. I ‘discovered’ them when they were 21 or 22 I was on my way to looking up some Beatles songs on YouTube and there they were. It has been fun and exciting to see where they are going musically.

Hi Tim;
Wow!! We have a few things in common. Outside of MLT and the Beatles we live part of the year in the mountains of NC near the SC state line and I taught math, stats, and econ at the college level for a few years. If you are at The Citadel, then you are about 4 or 5 hours away. Mike.

Hi Jung;
Very nice post!!! To Mona, Lisa, and Michaela………I like and admire Mona’s drum playing, rhythm playing and singing, I like and admire Lisa’s lead guitar playing and singing. To both…..I admire their song writing and arrangements. To Michaela……..she’s the glue. She is always quick with an answer to a problem or for help on the board or with an order. I have a feeling she also does a bunch we do not know about behind the scenes. Mike.

I’m a seasoned member and this is the first time I have seen this video. It is interesting and summarizes the first LP well.

Looks great!!!!!! We don’t have Tim Horton’s stores in the US. So, maybe if I go to Dunkin’ Donuts with my guitar, I can write a new song while eating their donuts. I’ll keep a hat on the table just in case anyone wants to contribute to the Rife Retirement Fund!! 😀

Interesting post. I have a few signatures of celebrities on my signature guitar (1978 Fender F-35 acoustic). It has signatures from the individuals in Poco, Pure Prairie League, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and even Peter Asher and Jeremy Clyde. I have a few more signatures I want to get including Mona and Lisa….so it is still a work in progress.

It changes back and forth between the two. I can say things that I like about Lisa are her excellent lead guitar playing and her singing. Things I like about Mona are her drumming, her rhythm guitar playing and her singing. I don’t know who wrote which songs, so I can’t tell who I like better as a songwriter. So, I like both equally.

The world is divided almost evenly, and very few artists wants to tackle any issue in song today. I was just thinking today while the news was on……..”Where are the protest songs like we had in the 1960s???” And, I believe I answered that in the first few sentences of this writing. Mike.

No TBS is not one of the signatures. I am missing him and Jim Messina from the Poco signers. I believe Jimmy is going to be playing near me in March but TBS is mostly with the Eagles now and it would be more difficult to get him to sign it. I would also like to get James Taylor to sign it, but his shows are so big that he rarely does a “meet and greet”.
