Hi Jacki;
Him responding to me is not that big of a deal to me. He says he faithfully responds to all emails because well………he’s a good guy. I’ve emailed him before because he is always asking for input to what he is playing on his program. To me the big deal is that he would play MonaLisa Twins on his program. That would cover the whole continent of North America and his show is repeated 5 times over a week. His saying he is aware of MLT and loves their covers is huge to me. It means more exposure over here for them and it is free exposure.
Just for those who may not know he is Peter of Peter and Gordon (A World Without Love) and has at least one Grammy as a record producer.

Yeah..….when it comes to practice for me, it’s the old saying “catch as catch can”….which means if there is open space to do something, pick up the instrument and do something…anything. Mike

Great question…….well selfishly for me too. I play guitar, mandolin and drums. And I struggle to practice the three as much as I would like because of……well, life.

Hi;
Would this work as a house concert idea? My wife and I have a sizable deck……large enough for amps and speakers either behind them or beside them on the ground. Also, there would be room for mics and maybe a smallish drum set…I have an electronic set if that helps. The backyard is large enough to hold maybe 40 to 50…..maybe more if the people really like each other. So, we are talking about an outdoor show in a residential suburb of Boston. Charging people between $30 to $40 may work in your math above.

Hi all;
I don’t know about a jigsaw puzzle……I’m not the patient kind so I would tend to force the pieces together with the assistance of maybe a hammer. But, doing so makes the puzzle look a little like a Picasso painting.

At different times during the day or week music can be different things.
1) Music can recall a memory from many years ago: a friend, a special one, family, etc. So, in this way music is a reminder of a feeling I had with someone who meant a lot to me.
2) Music can remind me of situations that I faced over the years. Sometimes it recalls going through the “tough stuff” of life, sometimes it reminds me that often we can get through those tough things, sometimes it reminds me of accomplishments. So, some songs are theme songs of overcoming and sometimes songs are theme songs for the hard things of life.
3) Music in a technical sense is an orderly arrangement of sound. It can be in 4/4, 3/4, 6/8, or some other time beats. The “timing” can change during a song which can at times add to or take away from the song. The orderliness is also found in the verse, chorus, bridge, etc. structure.
4) Music is also an example of different instruments and harmonies working together to give a complete and pleasant sound. If each instrument or vocal part is listened to by itself, then this individual sound may not be pleasant. But, when you layer together the instruments and the vocal harmonies, the “whole” is a pleasant sound. So, in a way it is teamwork.
5) Music is also an expression of something that is within a person. Sometimes feelings about things are so deep that the only way to express it is through a melody or a lyric. Sometimes when I am feeling something so deeply the only way to “get it out” is through a series of chords or notes which turns into a song……sometimes.
6) Finally music will have as many different and unique definitions as there are people.

Hi George!!
Glad you are here. I also live in Massachusetts in a Boston ‘burb to the southwest of Boston. But, I am not sure where Douglas is. I live in a town that is just off I-95 near Foxborough. Can you let me know generally where Douglas is?
Also, do you play any instruments? I have a bunch of instruments and maybe we could one day do some damage to the MLT Chord Book.

In no particular order:
1) If I Fell – One of my favorite Beatle songs and I like the way Lisa points the bow at us.
2) Still A Friend – One of the most professionally done videos that I have ever seen even though it is not as complex as some. Really shows me that less is more when the song and the setting is so striking.
3) Maxwell – Just plain funny and I like seeing Mona dressed up like a flapper.
4) Yesterday – They make the most covered song ever sound fresh and new.
5) Two Of Us – I’m a Dad of two daughters. So watching them grow up tugged at my Dad heartstrings.

Hi all;
I believe they have had contact with Paul’s brother: Mike McGear (?). If the two brothers are talking to each other (not always the case since I have a brother, we live about 8 hours from each other, and we are notorious about not calling each other), then Mike may have spoken to Paul about them. I just don’t know for sure. Mike

Yes, it makes perfect sense. I am guessing the song is written first and then the title just naturally happens. I like the song and much of the Orange LP. Hope you and Mona and family are getting ready for a great holiday!!

Don’t mind at all. That makes sense. I was just wondering if their creativity stretched over to different song arrangements. I know they throw in wrinkles like Mona playing a flute, etc. I was just wondering about tempo and other arrangement changes.

Hi Howard;
No problem. We can’t always tell when someone is kidding by the typed word. But, if I lived in Liverpool or surrounding areas, I would likely wear MLT merch at some time during the week. I sometimes imagine if I were 40 years younger and had no responsibilities, would I pack up my gear and go to England/Europe or stay here in the US and try to make a go of it in music?? Through FB I have been in contact with other musicians in England and Europe and we keep threatening to send each other songs or partial songs we are working on and maybe do long distance recording or over-dubbing. Anyway……..yes, I would wear MLT in Liverpool. Mike.

Hi Howard;
I have an MLT t-shirt, hoodie, guitar strap, pics, hat etc. I was mostly responding to Jackie’s response. If George and I get together (either at my place or his) to play music, then he would know I am already an MLT fan because we would show up at one of the other’s place. And to me if we both wore our MLT stuff when we first meet, it would be a little too “cutesy”. But, if a group of us got together at an MLT event, then I would likely wear one of their merch items so we can tell who is an MLT fan.

Hi George;
I’m not quite sure where 146 is…….but if you are where MA, RI, and CT meet we are not too terribly far away. I’m in the middle of teaching and grading papers, etc. now but over the holidays I’ll have lots of time. Maybe then (mid Dec. to mid Jan.).
BTW I feel no compulsion for both of us to be in MLT shirts when we meet!!

Member02/11/2018 at 19:25 in reply to: Is modern music getting worse? Thank God for MLTOK.…..fair enough. You forgot about Eagles, too. But, the individual singer-songwriter became more important after the 1970 dividing line than before it. Throw in Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon going solo with the ones I mentioned above and there are some major record sales going on. To me the solo acts were a major force in music after the 1970s than before. I have a book that discusses this transition…….I forget the title right now….but it makes a case for the growth in the individual acts. Mike.
