Hi;
Badfinger figured prominently in my musical journey in the 1970s. I was in a garage band during the late 1960s to early 1970s. I played the drums. We covered BadFinger…especially Day After Day and No Matter What. Our lead guitarist was having a hard time figuring the lead slide to the song. I had a guitar at home and was playing it for no particular reason and figured out the slide part. I showed it to him the next day. Then we covered it a few times at places. For No Matter What our lead singer was having a hard time “finding” his voice for it. I told him to sing it just like the Beatles would (What could be easier?? j/k). Then during practice I showed him. Then they moved me from drums to rhythm guitar because I could not sing over the drums well. And from that time on I have mainly played rhythm guitar and sang a little. I still go back and play drums just for fun. But, it was heartbreaking what they did to BadFinger. I believe they could have been even bigger had they continued. Also, it is funny how things happen during practice or just goofing off with a guitar can change things. Mike.

Hi Dan from Cleveland!!
I “discovered” MLT the same way….looking for Beatle videos….but for different reasons. I was only looking for Beatles’ vids for listening. Then I bumped into MLT. Welcome to the board. Mike

A couple of other Beatle covers I think would be interesting are “Rain” and “Paperback Writer”. Mike

How about covering “I Love You” but make it more the cover by People, A really good song. Mike.

Only guessing……..I would say Paul for Mona and John for Lisa. Not based on anything other than a hunch. Mike.

Hi Tim;
Are you trying to get us into trouble? I have videos where Mona played the drums and she holds her own. I started as a drummer in the mid to late 1960s…..my first set was a Black Pearl Ludwigs and now I have a couple of electronic sets. Based on that and studying drummers over the years (including Sina), I would say Mona would be able to play for several bands.

What about the Kinks……the Davies brothers.

Oh, for me it has to be one song that came out in 1965. That song is Summer Song by Chad and Jeremy. It is one of the prettiest love songs ever written. One more song would be another Beatles’ cover: Here, There, and Everywhere. Can you tell I kinda like silly love songs?
Best;

I’ve been fortunate enough to have some email exchanges with Michaela and she is a real professional in the marketing area. She has a way of expressing herself that makes the other person feel so appreciated. Mike.

I have a favorite……and at times I wonder if it comes through on some of my responses or posts. Very reluctant to say which one, though. They are both lovely and talented girls. I also believe that the musical combination of the two of them would far exceed the addition of each one individually. But, I like Mona just slightly more. I believe my choice has to do with what I do musically. I started out playing the drums, which I still do periodically, and now I mostly play rhythm guitar. Those are roles that Mona fills and I identify with her more.

Overall the content and performance is very good. It shows a lot of planning and care. I’ve been involved in some web page design and implementation and this one appears to be going pretty good. Thanks for the Club…..I can’t remember seeing another one quite like it.

Yeah, I heard that Garden of Eden story. Don’t know why they didn’t change the name but it is now part of rock history. Good chatting with you, too. Mike

Yeah, I kinda figured Tim was stirring the pot to see what comes up. When it comes to drumming, it was the first instrument I learned and I played from about age 13 to 17 or 18. Then I switched to guitar. But, it seems like with the drums no matter how long I am away from them when I sit behind them it all comes back and I am able to play just like old times. I guess the secret is learning to play it young and the muscle memory always stays. For example, I had not played Vanilla Fudge’s “You Keep Me Hanging On’ for a good 45 years. I was asked to play it by one person and I remembered the whole thing. But, then I did play it every day as a practice/warm-up song from 13 to around 17. Same is true for “Ina Gadda Da Vida” and “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy”. All 3 songs were daily practice/warm-up songs for several years. But, the point I am trying to make is that if Mona learned drums when young…..from what we know she was playing them at 14…..it will likely never go away from her. Now for me the guitar is a different story….it is a life-long learning project and I will never be as good at the guitar as I am at drums even though I play guitar 99% of the time now. Mike

Hi Tim;
I have probably heard their Yesterday’s Gone cover but I cannot remember specifically when. They did very well with it on the radio. The things I like about MLT are they are always on key and the harmonies are flawless and their playing is very good. It shows either a lot of practice time or that they know each other so well, they know where the other one is going or both. Well, I hope they can find the time to do the all the covers we like. Mike.

Hi Lisa. You are most welcome about me joining here. This site is really so extensive and fun. I usually play the mandolin tuned at G-D-E-A (same tuning as the violin, I think). Shubb carries the mandolin capo. I have used the mandolin in the past when we wanted to make certain songs have more of a country sound or can be used in the background of a song to add to the rhythm guitar. Also, playing the mandolin can require more cross-picking to get the most out of it.
I hope you get one soon because they are fun to play. Like I said above I have a Fender E/A mandolin, but I ran across one mandolin in a store that had fret lengths the same size as the guitar to make it easier to play. Some chords on the mandolin are hard to do if our fingers are a little “fat”…so these bigger frets would make things easier. But, this particular mandolin sold for around $1,500 and that is quite a lot for a mandolin.
I really enjoy the Clubhouse…there are so many interesting things to read and listen to. And, I look forward to more good music from MLT. Have a good week. Mike.
