OK. Thanks for the response. It was suggested by some to do it but I did not want to break any rules. Thanks again!!

One exception to the American sounding English band was when the Beatles did Til There Was You. Concerning the birds he never ‘sawr’ them winging. I first heard the song in 1964 when I was 10 years old and it caught me by surprise. I guess it was the English way of saying the word saw (or Liverpool way). But, it crept into the song. Mike.

Typically Paul due to his range. But, I like John from the beginning to about Sgt. Peppers. Hi “Dylan period” is my favorite. Also, their harmonies are insane……try to follow their individual voices in the song If I Fell…..Paul and John do a spectacular job on that song……as well as others. One thing that is overlooked is when Paul and George sing together. The band has a whole different feel about it. It did not happen often…..they sang together some as background to John. I was able to find one song where they sang the whole song together called “Don’t Ever Change” by Goffin/King. Now if I can figure out how to attach something from Youtube, then you can hear it, too. When I hear the song, I think they should have had Paul and George together more often. But, they tended to stay with what was working and that was John and Paul. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ou58vCDfTbo

I think Jacki’s list is the definitive list of summer songs. Also, many many years ago there was this little garage band that covered the Grass Roots and the River Is Wide…..back when it was easier to hit high notes.,,,,,so it brought back a few memories. One that says summer to me was the music that was available during the summer of 1970. We had 8 tracks in the car back then and one 8 track that was released during the summer (or shortly before) was the Woodstock LP. So, CSNY Suite: Judy Blue Eyes, Jimi and Purple Haze, Janis Joplin, the Who (See Me, Feel Me) all represent summer to me. Mike.

I always thought of the song as a love song. It was released in 1970 when Paul and Linda were still early on in their marriage. To me the song shows that simple things (junk) can remind us of the one we loved. Mike.

My two cents. I would say a maximum venue of 400 seats would likely work. There are several to choose from across NA. If two or three shows per location is needed, then it could work out. MIke.

I have a Rick…..it is a 330 and has a smooth sound. I use it for schmaltzy sounding music. But, it is somewhat flexible enough to play some heavy leads. It is a solid guitar for playing rhythm, but not my first choice for a lead guitar. Mike.

Yes, I have also heard MLT on Sirius a few times. The first time was on Peter Asher’s program on the Beatles channel and I about wrecked the car. In all I have probably heard them about 4 times. At first when I hear them I think it is nothing unusual because I play their CDs a bit. But, after awhile I realize it is on the radio and I get excited about it. Mike.

It’s between This Boy and If I Fell. If forced, I would pick If I Fell.

Member22/01/2021 at 09:32 in reply to: A list of the most influential rock artists of all timeI have a top 4 or 5 that led to the RnR explosion of the 1960s……especially from England. Only one was on the lists above:
1) Chuck Berry (lead guitar)
2) Buddy Holly (innovation)
3) Everly Brothers (harmonies)
4) Roy Orbison (vocal range)
5) Elvis…..he has to be on the list. (Hips)
I believe these 5 RnR guys did more to create the sounds from the 1960s than anyone else.

In terms of creativity I finally recorded a rhythm guitar track of an original song. When I listen to it, I can imagine additional instruments in the “song” and also a melody goin over the rhythm part.
I sent the track out to some music friends of mine and the feedback was positive. I have about 15 or so other rhythm tracks and will record and distribute to the same friends over the next few weeks. Mike.

Hi Thomas;
You mentioned all of the classic Rusty songs. Also, the HOF induction was in 2015 but not a major problem. We have been trying to get them in the RnR HOF but it is a long shot. My favorite is Rose….. Mike.

When the Raspberries came along they were to be the next Beatles and Badfinger, too. By 1975 both groups were basically gone. One group was tragically cut short and the other had the leader going solo. Oh well……we hoped for the best.

Hi David;
I’ll check it out in the later AM on the ask MLT. What I am working on is only the rhythm guitar parts and I will likely add some lead and drums and ask my wife to add strings (violin, viola, cello) to the songs. But, if people are interested I will add to the post the chords I am using on the rhythm parts…..If someone wants to take the rhythm part I have posted and do something different with it, it would be fine with me. So, I’ll ask MLT. Thanks!! Mike.

Hi Jung;
That sounds great but I am not sure if we can ‘self-promote’ on this site. I am not recording it to make money or anything like that. I am just doing it for fun and so I won’t some day forget the rhythm parts. That has already happened to me in the late 1970s/early 1980s. I had about 30 songs and never wrote them down or recorded them. I did not pick up the guitar from 1980 to 2005 and in 2005 I only remembered 2 of the parts. Now I am writing them down and recording……in case my family wants them later on.
Anyway, are we allowed to post our own music here?? If not, there are other ways for me to get it to you. Mike.
