Because this forum is already about Paul McCarthy, Blackbird and Bach I added this video, which I just found it in the Dutch TV archives, at this place.

Due to the subtitles you can also learn some Dutch.

I am thinking about the Dutch group Focus, see https://youtu.be/g4ouPGGLI6Q

They only had 4:30 to play a song of over 6 min.

This is impossible to answer, it can depend on the mood you are in, the place you are etc., but I will try

5 This boy is mine – one of the few live video’s of an orginal and the first time I heard it, I really thought it was a Beatles song.

4 Ain’t no Sunshine – the start, when we still see Mona actually playing drums and beside that she is having soo much fun during the solo

3 Lola – great song, sung with soo much fun and joy

2 All I want Christmas to be – refreshing new Christmas song, lyrics and video are in line

1 Hotel California – it is Hotel California do I need to say more. Also because of the background story when they filmed the video, going with a stranger to the middle of nowhere

Len, I do know The Analogues, I have never seen them play live, however I have seen 2 documentaries about them 1 when they prepare to perform Abbey Road and one about their performance during Beatles week.

The guys are really in the details if George H. used guitar A (I do not know anything about guitars) for a certain song, they also use quitar A. If George uses guitar B for the next song they also use quitar B. So for the Beatles week performance they had 2 big trucks with equipment.

In one of the songs you can hear a bell and they looked for weeks to find out what kind of bell it was.

Also during a live concert sudenly a guy pops up from backstage to play a 3rd hand on the piano, because they heard that during the analyses of the song, so it must be performed like that.

Jung Roe: beside ABBA I think their is only one real international star who won the Eurovision Song festival and that is Celine Dion for France in 1988.

Other winners are often well known in their own country, specially at the start of the song festival when it was mandatory to sing in your own language; in that time it was really about the music and the singing. E.g. in 1969 the Netherlands won with Lenny Kuhr and as far as I know she is still performing in the Netherlands and a part of Belgium (the part they also speak Dutch).

Golden Earring is indeed Dutch, created great songs not only Rader Love. They never participated the European Song festival. They stopped last year because the guitarist is ill.

For the Germans: Rudi Carrell participated for the Netherlands in 1960.

This was a good idea Jung, I already used the street view option on the members map to look around in the world, nice to see some places which I probably will never visit.

Hi Jung, the The Dixie Chicks and The Chicks are the same band. They changed the name in june 2020; Dixie is too much associated with slavery.

Hi Diana in the Netherlands we do not hear a lot about The Chicks. I have a few of the early CD’s “Wide open spaces”, “Fly” and “Home”. The first album I bought because I saw them on UK TV because they won an award. No online shops like Amamzon in those days, so I had to buy the CD via the local shop in the US. Now I listen sometimes via Deezer. I hope you enjoy the show in August (I am sure you will).

Hi Jung, finnaly found the time to read/listen this topic. I find it very interessting, however I do not understand it for 100%; I try again later. With me it is I like the music or not, I do not know anything about all kind of technical items. But it seems I like Mona and Lisa because they create greate music, including all kind of good technics from the past.
