I’m with you for snuggling up in the cold Jacki. It’s a pity we can’t trade some of our heat for some of your ‘big chill’!

And Lisa, Scoustrian is okay. Just don’t let them ever call you a ‘randy scouse git’.

“The phrase “Randy Scouse Git” in Britain directly translated to, according to Mickey Dolenz (of the Monkees), “horny, Liverpudlian jerk”, was taken from the 1960s British sitcom ‘Till Death Us Do Part’, in which it was regularly used, by the loud-mouthed main character Alf Garnett, played by Cockney actor Warren Mitchell, to insult his Liverpudlian (“Scouse”) son-in-law, played by Tony Booth.”

As I have stated in another thread, Liverpool sounds lovely, like my home city of Brisbane. Except we don’t have so many live venues or the rich history. But we are a river city also!

Don’t know if anyone has got back to you yet but if you open your shopping cart you will find a red × Next to your order. Click on this and it should clear the order and also leave you with an undo option if you change your mind again.

I must say I don’t think anyone has donated more money to the Policeman’s Annual Ball than me. This has changed in the last few years though fortunately, and within a couple of months I will have a clean slate on my licence for the first time ever. We have a points system where you are allowed 12 points over a three year period. Lose those 12 points and your licence is suspended for up to six months.

As for surprises from Mona and Lisa, I certainly don’t want to be surprised by anything like them jumping out of aeroplanes again, with or without parachutes! I just wonder which one of them is the evil twin that encourages this type of behaviour!

    Hi Tomás

How do you play it backwards? I’m a technological hillbilly! As for ‘Once Upon A Time’, the only thing I notice is that the sound changes and seems to come from a different source/direction/volume on a couple of occasions.

Yes, have to agree about contemporary music and how MLT and others are bucking the trend by going independent. More on this in MT’s “Is This Where I Ask Fellow Fans” in the General Discussion Forum.

As for groups from 1965 to 1975, a few more serious omissions of course. This subject is always going to be controversial as we all have slightly different musical tastes, with one thing in common though, a like of all things MLT!

The list so far is heavily American influenced and I’d have to include groups and singers like Manfred Mann, The Hollies, The Yardbirds, The Who, The Small Faces, Hermans’s Hermits, Donovan, Cream, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane, Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, Little Feat, The Lovin’ Spoonful, Jimi Hendrix, The EasyBeats, The Masters Apprentices, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, Iggy and The Stooges, Roxy Music, Ry Cooper, the Doobie Brothers, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Allman Brothers Band, David Bowie, Yes, Genesis, Black Sabbath, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Bruce Springsteen, Joy Division, Talking Heads, Elvis Costello and the Attractions, Steely Dan, Kraftwerk, Grateful Dead, Santana, Supertramp and dare I mention them, The Bay City Rollers, to name a few! I haven’t mentioned all those Punk and New Wave bands as they were mostly post 1975!

I’m surprised you still have your licence. I’ve lost mine or had it suspended several times for speeding. Our cops tend to target bike riders, although I first lost my licence driving my first new car the 1,000km from Brisbane to Sydney. I was caught about 100k from my destination.

The Moto Guzzi California is a cruiser motorcycle manufactured and marketed by Moto Guzzi since 1971, with a standard seating position, footboards, heel-and-toe gearshift, and linked (discontinued for the new 1400 models) Brembo brakes.

The first California was designed in consultation with the Los Angeles Police Department Traffic Division to replace the department’s Moto Guzzi V7s. It originally had a left-foot gearshift, a bulletproof Lexan windshield and a sprung sidestand, along with the requisite siren, radio, extra police lights, and a standing quarter mile time of under 16 seconds. Later other police departments used them, including the California Highway Patrol.

The original California was 750cc but over the years it has progressed through 900cc and 1100cc to the current 1400cc, the largest twin motorcycle made in Europe.  All Moto Guzzis are twins. Triumphs are either twins like my Bonneville 865 and the Thunderbird Cruiser 1600cc or triples like my Tiger 800 Adventure bike and the Rocket III 2300cc.

In closing, I must state that no one was as cool as Steve McQueen, whether he was driving a car or riding a motorbike. Then again, how cool are Mona and Lisa, whether driving cars, riding their trail bikes, riding horses, water surfing, jumping out of planes, cooking up a storm in the kitchen, or just strumming their guitars and singing!

Well Jung. I never picked you for a muscle car driver. Those baddies in the Charger really got fried. Steve McQueen was also a motorcycle racer and there is a good chase scene with him riding a Triumph 650 in the WWII movie, ‘The Great Escape’.

My very first bike, when I was just 19, was a 1964 Suzuki 250 ‘Hustler’ and I thought it was the greatest thing on two wheels. Just loved that bike. Bit of a story about it involving one of my brothers (maybe later). This was in the days when a lot of motorcycles, like mine, were two strokes! When I took up motorcycling again, many years later in 2008, my first new bike was a Triumph Bonneville (865). In 2011 I bought a new Triumph Tiger 800 and then in 2013, my current ride, which is a Moto Guzzi California Tourer 1400.

Do you realise the Twins also ride motorcycles. There’s nothing they wouldn’t try!

Great suggestion Tomás. I’ve also been thinking about ways that the MLT could improve the revenue stream from their extensive YouTube collection and I guess membership to this club is one way, but your suggestion would draw an income from a far wider audience. I don’t know much about how the recording royalty system and YouTube advertising revenue system work, apart from what the Twins have taught me, but I have always thought they seem to be way too generous with what they give for free.

Following on your theme of what’s in the public domain, I believe ‘Sloop John B’ would be an excellent contender, even though it has been recorded by many artists already and would be a major challenge for anyone. However, as a studio recording and with one of Rudolf’s brilliant video productions, I have no doubt the MLT could make this a real winner. They are also into Beach Boys’ style harmonies and it’s their version, from ‘Pet Sounds’ that I have in mind.

I wasn’t really serious about the Downunder holiday as I’m aware of the cost and time involved and your limited resources. A holiday in sunny southern Spain would be far more feasible for you, although I guess the snow of Austria must also be an attraction this time of the year. Hopefully some time in the future it may be possible for you to revisit Adelaide.

From what Lisa has written in another post, Liverpool sounds like a very liveable place, if you avoid the the night spots with the heavy drinkers. I can say exactly the same for my home city of Brisbane, except we don’t have quite the same rich history of Liverpool and your native homeland. I’d love to visit Liverpool one day and would include a visit to Spain and hopefully Vienna too.

I do think it must be your snowflake outfits that accentuate your baby faces, along with the tiny tot next to you! A very cute clip indeed. I’m looking forward to when you finally get to the video clip in your archives of Lisa’s first open mic performance of ‘Alone’.

For some reason I thought you had completed the writing for your next album and were getting into the recording stage. It’s going to be a long year for me waiting for its release but I have no doubt it will be well worth it! I hope 2019 is an excellent year for you, Lisa, Michaela and Rudolf.

    Groovy greetings from BrisVegas!

Yes, very nice indeed Jung, and as you state, a strong country influence to everything. Much like Dylan’s ‘Nashville Skyline’ period, but not much like Dylan in other ways. She is a much better singer but I don’t really know much about her song writing skills to compare her with Dylan. For a modern Dylan, look no further than Courtney Barnett: ‘Australia’s answer to Bob Dylan’ on being a voice for the millenial generation.

Well it’s a free world and I guess if you’re entitled to refer to me as mean and a grinch, then I’m entitled to refer to you as a Xmas fairy!

Me, mean! I don’t think so. The Twins are mature and broad minded enough to accept that not everyone has the same attitude to Xmas and have always made it known that they appreciate hearing our differing views and understandings of the world we live in. Xmas isn’t celebrated the same way the world over. I can understand people getting into the festive spirit during the holiday season, but believing in fairytales is for children and this is an adult club.

  • Well I got that one wrong. Thought it was your Topic for some reason. And no, as I stated earlier, I’m not into nicknames as such and don’t like the sound of Mikey! So sorry Jacki, didn’t mean to offend you, just trying to draw out a name I could easily pronounce. Might just stick with Jacki if you don’t mind!

  • Okay Jacki! Say no more! JukeBoxJax it is!

  • Hate to sound difficult Jacki, but just incase we meet in person one day, how do you pronounce ‘PPJBR’? PP is so much easier to remember and say. And yes, I am just trying to get Mike’s stats up for this post!
